Okay, so I’ve been messing around with Smolder in League of Legends, right? He’s this cute little dragon guy that’s supposed to be played in the ADC role. I was like, “Alright, let’s see what this fire-breathing lizard can do!”
So I started playing him, and he is pretty simple. Not like some of those other new champs that make my brain hurt. I jumped into a few games and started to get a feel for how he works. You gotta stack up his passive by hitting enemies with your abilities and last-hitting minions with your Q. The more stacks, the stronger he gets.

But here’s the thing: I kept getting wrecked! Turns out, Smolder is squishier than a marshmallow. I mean, seriously, this little dragon gets blown up if someone even looks at him funny. So I thought, “Who is the best support for Smolder?”
- First, I tried playing with a Lux support. Lux is a pretty good support and she is often win against smolder. She’s got that long-range poke with her E, and she can lock people down with her Q. Plus, her ult is just a giant laser beam of death. We did win a few games, her win rate is over 50%, but I still felt like I was doing most of the work.
- Then I saw some people online talking about how Smolder needs a support that can keep him alive. Makes sense, right? They were saying champs like Rakan, Sona, Alistar, Bard, and Janna are good with him because they have strong crowd control, peeling, and ways to disengage.
- So I tried playing with a Janna. Her tornadoes are great for knocking people away, and her shield gives Smolder a little extra damage. We won a couple of games, but it still felt like a struggle.
- Then I played with a Rakan, and oh boy, was that a game-changer! Rakan is like a feathery ninja, darting in and out of fights, knocking people up, and charming them. He kept the enemy off me, and I could just blast away with my fireballs. It was like a beautiful, fiery dance of death.
I also tried with a few other supports, like Bard and Alistar. Bard was okay. His portals are fun, but sometimes they send you to the wrong place. Alistar was pretty good too, with his headbutts and pulverizes, but he felt a bit clunky compared to Rakan.
In the end, I realized that the best support for Smolder is one that can really protect him and help him scale up. For me, Rakan was the perfect fit. He’s got the mobility, the crowd control, and the engage/disengage that Smolder needs to survive and become a fire-breathing monster. But hey, maybe you’ll find someone else you like better. Just remember, Smolder needs a babysitter, so pick a support that can keep him safe!
This is my experience with Smolder. I might not be the best player, but I wanted to share what I learned. Hopefully, this helps someone out there who’s trying to figure out how to play with this adorable little dragon. Good luck, and have fun burning your enemies to a crisp!
