Alright, so, I’ve been grinding Valorant lately, and I’ve been really trying to get better. I saw this guy, Rawkus, he’s a former pro player or something, and he’s been doing some coaching stuff. I figured, “Hey, why not try some of his tips?” Seemed like a good idea at the time.
So first, I went digging around to see what this Rawkus guy was all about. Turns out, his name is Shane Flaherty, born on June 16th…some years ago. He’s got some experience in tournaments and supposedly has a “strategic and analytical approach” to coaching. Whatever that means. But hey, he was a pro, so he must know something, right?
I started by focusing on the basics. Rawkus apparently recommends using the practice mode a lot. You know, the shooting range and all that. I spent some time there, just shooting at targets, trying to get my aim down. It’s pretty boring, honestly, but I figured it was a good place to start. I also tried to practice using agent abilities in there. Just throwing smokes and flashes, trying to get a feel for them.
Then, I moved on to trying to understand team comps. I found some resources online, tier lists and stuff, that rank the agents based on their win rates, pick rates, and some other stats. It was a bit overwhelming, to be honest. Like, who knew there were so many agents? And they all have different abilities and roles. I tried to pick some of the “top-tier” agents, like the ones that are supposed to be good for climbing in ranked.
After that it’s all about playing some real games. I tried to put everything I learned into practice. I focused on using my abilities effectively, communicating with my team, and trying to play smart. It’s easier said than done, let me tell you. This game is tough!
I also tried to focus on a few specific agents. There’s this guy, Brimstone, he’s a controller. He’s got these orbital abilities that can block enemy vision and control the map. Seemed like a good one to learn, so I spammed him for a while. And I’ve given Yoru a shot. Heard he’s tough, but I wanted a challenge. His abilities need you to be good. I mean, really good. Still working on that.
Here’s what I’ve been doing during games:
- Practice Mode Warm-up: Before I jump into ranked, I always hit the practice range. I focus on my aim, trying to get those headshots consistently.
- Agent Practice: I’ve been trying to get comfortable with the abilities of the agents I’m playing. Like, where to place Brimstone’s smokes, or how to use Yoru’s teleports effectively.
- Playing Games and learning: I just played a bunch of games, trying different agents and strategies. Some games went well, some… not so much.
Honestly, it’s been a slow process. I’m still not amazing at Valorant, but I think I’m getting a little better. I’m still trying to figure out all the different agents and how to play them properly. And my aim could definitely use some work. But hey, at least I’m trying, right?
So that’s my Rawkus Valorant experience so far. It’s been a bit of a grind, but I’m hoping it will pay off in the long run. Maybe one day I’ll actually be good at this game. Who knows?
