Alright, so I’ve been grinding a lot in Pokémon GO lately, and I’ve been focusing on my Charizard, a real classic, you know? So, I wanted to figure out the best way to set him up for battles, both in gyms and against other players.
First off, I did a little digging around. It seems like the common wisdom is that Fire Spin and Blast Burn are the way to go for Charizard. Apparently, this combo gives you the most damage per second, which sounds pretty good to me! They’re saying it’s the best setup for both PVE, like attacking gyms, and PVP battles. That’s what I wanted to hear!

I also noticed that these moves get something called a Same Type Attack Bonus. Basically, since Charizard is a Fire-type, and these are Fire-type moves, they get a nice 20% damage boost. Not too bad, huh? I started to train Charizard with my friend yesterday. We fought each other many times to pratice this skills.
But Charizard can learn a bunch of different attacks, so I started to look into some alternatives and comparisons. I found some detailed ranking lists that compare all the different move sets based on things like damage per second and energy per second. It’s a lot of numbers, but it helps to make sense of it all.
- Wing Attack as a Fast Move paired with Blast Burn and Dragon Claw as Charged Moves. This seems like a solid choice, especially for Ultra League battles. I guess Charizard isn’t as powerful in the Great or Master Leagues, but he’s still a beast in Ultra. I will try this out.
- Then there’s something called Seismic Slam. This seems like a build attack that can give Charizard a big damage boost, and there’s another thing, Energy Amplifier, that makes Seismic Slam even stronger. Sounds interesting, but I don’t have all that fancy equipment yet.
Here’s what I learned about some other move options:
I also figured out who to watch out for when using my Charizard. There are some tough Pokémon out there that can counter him pretty easily. The ones that gave me the most trouble were things like Mega Diancie, Shadow Rampardos, and a few others. Gotta be careful with those guys!
So, after experimenting with these movesets in a few battles, I gotta say, the Fire Spin and Blast Burn combo really does pack a punch! My Charizard was melting through opponents in gyms, and I even won a few PVP matches. I was suprised!
I’m still learning and trying out new things, but for now, I’m pretty happy with my Charizard’s setup. It’s been a fun process figuring all this out, and I’m excited to see how far I can take him in battles. I’ll keep you all posted on my progress!
