Hey everyone, it’s your boy here, back again with another Pokemon GO deep dive. Today, we’re talking about Marowak. Now, I’ve been playing around with this guy for a while now, and I’ve got some thoughts to share. Let’s get into it.
So, first off, I started by catching a bunch of Cubones, trying to find one with decent stats. After grinding for a bit, I finally evolved one into a Marowak. I even powered it up a bit, dumping around 70k stardust and over 60 candies into it. It ended up around 1499 CP. Not bad, right?

Testing in Battles
Next, I took my newly evolved Marowak into some battles. I mainly focused on the Great League since that’s where Pokemon around 1500 CP shine. At first I tried to use it as a ground-type Pokemon, which didn’t go well. After some research, I learned that its best moves are actually Ghost/Fire, which I quickly switched to.
Here’s what I found out:
- Typing Advantages: Being a Ghost/Fire type, this Marowak was pretty good against Normal, Fighting, Bug, Steel, Fairy, Ice, and Fire types. It felt like a solid counter to a lot of common Pokemon.
- Weaknesses: Oh boy, it struggled against Water, Ice, and Grass types. These were super common, and it often felt like my Marowak was taking a beating.
The Verdict?
Honestly, after all that battling, my Marowak ended up being just okay. While its typing was really great at dealing with a lot of different Pokemon, it was easily beaten by some other very common types. It was fun to use at times, but it wasn’t as powerful as I was hoping, maybe because I couldn’t get its IVs up very much. I even tried using Stone Edge to deal with Flying-types, but even that wasn’t enough sometimes.
I also tried using it in a few raids. It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t amazing either. It has a raid boss CP of 13525, and with some practice I was able to solo it. Still, there are better options out there.
So, is Marowak good in Pokemon GO? It’s a mixed bag. It can be good in certain situations, but it’s not a top-tier Pokemon. It’s more of a niche pick, fun to use if you’re looking for something different. But if you’re looking for a powerhouse, you might want to look elsewhere.
That’s all for today’s experiment, folks. Let me know in the comments if you’ve had any luck with Marowak! Peace out!
