Okay, here’s my experience with leveling up in Pathfinder.
So, I started my adventure in Pathfinder, and let me tell you, figuring out how to level up was a bit of a head-scratcher at first. I read somewhere that you get experience points (XP) by beating monsters, finishing quests, and stuff like that. Basically, overcoming challenges.

I started knocking out quests and battling monsters. It felt like a slow grind at first. I kept an eye on my XP bar, and after a while, it finally hit that magic number. Boom, level up! I got a notification, and that’s when I realized I had some choices to make. I had to choose my class, which was kind of a big deal.
Choosing a Class and Applying Ability Score Increases
- I picked the class that seemed cool to me at the time.
- Then, I got to bump up my ability scores. I put some points into Intelligence because I wanted to be a bit smarter, you know?
After that, it was all about skills. I learned that every level, I got skill points based on my class and how smart I was. I started investing points into skills that I thought would be useful. I found out that I could only put as many points into a skill as I had Hit Dice, which was interesting.
Skill Checks and Skill Increases
So, whenever I tried to use a skill, I had to do a skill check. I’d roll a 20-sided die and add my skill rank and ability modifier. I noticed that the higher my skill rank, the better my chances of succeeding. At the 3rd level, and every two levels after that, I got a skill increase. It’s cool, I could become “trained” in a skill I hadn’t trained yet. I also learned that skill increases are very useful.
Anyway, that’s pretty much how I figured out leveling up in Pathfinder. It was a bit of a learning curve, but once I got the hang of it, it became pretty straightforward. Just keep an eye on your XP, choose your class wisely, pump up those ability scores, and invest in skills that you think will come in handy. Good luck, fellow adventurers!
