Alright, so I’ve been grinding CS2 lately, and like everyone else, I’m obsessed with skins. Especially knives, you know? They’re just so cool. So, I decided to dive deep into the world of cases, trying to figure out which ones are the best for snagging a sweet knife.
First, I started by just opening a bunch of random cases I had lying around. Yeah, not the smartest move. I got mostly junk, as you’d expect. Blues for days. Then I did some reading, you know, just hitting up some forums and seeing what the community was saying.

- Some folks were all about the Chroma 2 Case. Said it’s a classic, and they’ve had good luck with it.
- Others were hyping up the Operation Broken Fang Case. Apparently, it’s got some really nice skins in general, not just knives. Like, people mentioned the M4A1-S Printstream and Glock-18 Neo-Noir.
So, armed with this newfound knowledge, I started focusing on these two cases. I bought a few, held my breath, and started opening. The first few Chroma 2 cases? Nothing special. Mostly blues, a couple of purples maybe. Then I opened an Operation Broken Fang case, and bam! Got a pretty decent knife. Nothing crazy valuable, but it was a knife! I was stoked.
I kept going, opening more of both cases. It was definitely a rollercoaster. Some cases were duds, others had some decent stuff. I even managed to pull another knife from a Chroma 2 case later on! This one was a bit nicer than the first, so that was a win. After a good long while of opening cases, I had ended up with 4 knives! My friend told me I was just incredibly lucky.
Honestly, it’s all pretty random. Valve, the makers of CS2, they say there’s like a 79.92% chance you’ll get a basic skin, a 15.98% chance for a slightly better one, and it keeps going down until you get to the super rare stuff, which is where knives are. So it was an expensive project.
In the end, I had a lot of fun with this little experiment. I got a couple of cool knives, but I also spent a good chunk of change. It’s definitely not a guaranteed way to get rich or anything, but if you enjoy the thrill of the gamble, it can be pretty exciting.
My advice? If you’re going to try this, set a budget and stick to it. Don’t go chasing after that dream knife and end up broke. And remember, it’s all about luck. Maybe you’ll get lucky, maybe you won’t. But hey, that’s part of the fun, right? Anyway I’m going to keep trying my luck.
