So I’ve been messing around with Lugia in Pokemon lately, trying to figure out the best way to use this beast. Let me tell you, it’s been a journey.
I started by reading up on what other folks were saying. Lots of talk about Lugia’s Multiscale ability, which is pretty cool – basically, if Lugia’s HP is full, it takes less damage from attacks. And it can learn Roost, a move that heals it, so you can keep that Multiscale going. Seemed like a solid plan to me!

Then I dove into Lugia’s stats and moves. It’s a Psychic and Flying-type, so I knew right away it would be weak to things like Dark, Electric, Ghost, and Ice attacks, and it’s also vulnerable to Rock-type. This part was a little overwhelming, I won’t lie.
- Moves: I messed around with all kinds of moves. Lugia can use Hydro Pump, Sky Attack, Future Sight, and Aeroblast.
- Aeroblast: This is Lugia’s signature move, and it’s a beast! It’s a super strong Flying-type move. It is easily the best Flying-type move in the game. Not too many other moves can compete with 100 base power and 95 accuracy. This move also has a boosted critical hit ratio.
- Offense: Some folks recommended Extrasensory and Future Sight for attacking. That makes sense, since you can’t really use Lugia as a defender in Pokemon Go.
I spent hours battling, trying different combinations. Honestly, I got wrecked a lot at first. But slowly, I started to get the hang of it. I learned that the key is to use that Multiscale and Roost combo to stay alive, then hit hard with Aeroblast or Future Sight.
I even looked up some counters to Lugia, just to see what I was up against. Turns out, things like Mega Tyranitar and Mega Gengar can really mess Lugia up. Good to know!
After all that experimenting, here’s what I’ve settled on:
My Lugia Moveset
- Aeroblast – Because it’s just so powerful.
- Roost – Gotta keep that HP up for Multiscale.
- Extrasensory – It is a good Psychic-type attack move.
- Future Sight – Psychic-type attack move.
It’s not perfect, and I’m sure there are other great ways to use Lugia. But this setup has been working pretty well for me. It’s all about surviving those super effective hits, healing up, and then dishing out some serious damage. If you’re trying to use Lugia, give this a shot and see what you think! It takes some practice, but it’s definitely worth it. This legendary bird is a lot of fun to use once you figure it out!
Let me know what you think or if you have other suggestions about Lugia in the comments!
