Alright, so I’ve been grinding MLB The Show 24 lately, and man, has it been a frustrating experience. I’m talking about the lag. It’s driving me nuts! I launched the game, fired up and jumped straight into an online match, ready to crush some dingers. But nope, the game had other plans.
First off, every pitch felt like it was coming in slow motion. I mean, I’m no Barry Bonds, but I’m pretty sure I can hit a fastball faster than that. I tried timing my swings, but it was like the game was playing a cruel joke on me. Swing early, swing late, it didn’t matter. I was striking out more than a blindfolded batter.
- Checked my internet connection, thinking maybe my Wi-Fi was acting up. Nope, solid as a rock.
- Restarted my router just to be sure. Still laggy.
- Tried playing at different times of the day, hoping it was just peak-hour congestion. No dice.
I even started messing with my TV settings. You know, that “game mode” that’s supposed to reduce input lag? Yeah, that didn’t do squat. I was still swinging at ghosts.
Diving Deeper into the Problem
So, I did what any sane person would do. I hit up the internet, scouring forums and Reddit threads for answers. Turns out, I wasn’t alone. Tons of people were having the same issue. Some folks said it was the game servers, others blamed it on the game itself being poorly optimized. Some said I’d receive enough XP to earn my first Wild Card slot from the Season 2 XP Reward Path. Then I can slot in my favorite player from my Season 1 cards to join my new Season 2 squad.
I even tried playing offline, and guess what? Still laggy! It’s like the game was designed to torture me. I’m starting to think maybe it’s my console. I’m still rocking an Xbox One, and maybe it’s just not powerful enough to handle this game. I saw someone mention they were playing The Show 23 on Xbox One via Game Pass and it worked fine, but I’m not sure how that helps me with 24.
I checked if I had any external devices plugged in, nope. I checked to see if I was having similar issues with other online games, also nope. It’s just MLB The Show 24 that’s giving me grief.
At this point, I’m about ready to throw in the towel. Maybe I’ll just wait for a patch or something. Or maybe I’ll just go back to playing older versions of the game. At least those were playable! I just wanted to share my experience and see if anyone else has found a fix. It’s a shame because when the game isn’t lagging, it’s actually pretty fun. But right now, it’s just a frustrating mess.
