Okay, so today I wanted to mess around and see if I could make a decent Hakeem Olajuwon build in NBA 2K24. The Dream is a legend, you know? One of the best centers ever, maybe the most skilled. Definitely top two for me, only behind Shaq, maybe.
First, I jumped into the MyPLAYER builder. Started from scratch, you know? Had to pick a position, and obviously, it had to be Center. Then, I started thinking about what made Hakeem so special. Dude was a beast on both ends of the court, right?

So, I started by maxing out his post moves. Gotta have that “Dream Shake,” you know? Pump fakes, spins, drop steps – the whole nine yards. I bumped up his close shot, driving layup, and standing dunk attributes. He wasn’t just a post player though, so I gave him a decent mid-range shot too. Dude could hit those little jumpers from the elbow, no problem.
Defense was key. I made sure to give him high marks in interior defense, block, and both offensive and defensive rebounding. This guy was a shot-blocking machine. He’s got the NBA record for blocks, after all, and he’s the only player with over 3,000 blocks and 2,000 steals. Crazy, right?
I played around with his physical attributes too. Made him strong, but not too slow. Hakeem was quick for a big man, so I tried to balance his strength and speed. It took a little while, tweaking things here and there. Decreased his strength by 1 point and speed by 2, that allowed me to increase stamina to 93, and free throws to 82.

Key Attributes I Focused On:
After a while of tinkering, I ended up with a build I was pretty happy with. It wasn’t perfect, but it felt like it captured the essence of Hakeem’s game. I took him into a few MyCAREER games to test him out.
Man, it was fun! Dominating the paint, swatting shots, and hitting those signature post moves. It felt like I was really playing as The Dream. I even managed to get a few triple-doubles with points, rebounds, and blocks. I think I spent a good few hours just playing around with this build, reliving some of Hakeem’s greatest moments.
It’s not easy to recreate a legend in a video game, but I think this build does a decent job. It’s a fun way to experience the greatness of Hakeem Olajuwon, one of the best to ever do it. At least I did have fun. If you’re a fan of The Dream or just love old-school, dominant centers, you should give it a try!
