Alright, so, let me tell you about my little adventure with those sea creatures in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, specifically for December. I’ve been playing this game for a while, and diving for these critters is one of my favorite parts.
First off, I got my wetsuit on – can’t go diving without it, right? Then, I headed to the ocean. December is a pretty cool month for sea creature hunting. In the Northern Hemisphere, where I usually play, there are like 23 different sea creatures you can catch during this month. I found out that one of them is actually new in December, which got me pretty excited to look for it. Oh, and I had to be quick, because it seems like two of them are leaving after December, so it was now or never to catch those.

I spent a good chunk of my time just swimming around, looking for those little shadows in the water. You gotta be patient, you know? Sometimes those shadows are just seaweed, but other times, bam! It’s a sea creature. It’s kind of a guessing game, but that’s what makes it fun.
I managed to catch a bunch of them. Some were easy to get, like the Seaweed and the Sea Grapes. But others, like the Giant Isopod, that one was a bit more challenging. It’s faster, so you gotta be quick on the A button to catch up to it.
- Seaweed: These are everywhere, pretty easy to spot.
- Sea Grapes: Also not too hard to find, they’re a bit smaller.
- Giant Isopod: This one gave me a bit of a chase, but I got it!
It’s kind of addictive, really. You just want to keep diving to see what else you can find. I spent hours in the water, and I’m pretty sure my character is part fish now.
What I Learned
This whole sea creature hunting thing in December taught me a few things. One, patience is key. Two, it pays to know which creatures are leaving soon, so you can prioritize those. And three, it’s just a really chill way to spend your time in the game. I think I filled up a good portion of my Critterpedia with all the sea creatures I caught.
I’ve heard that in the Southern Hemisphere, it’s a bit different, with 17 sea creatures available in December. I haven’t played there much during this time, but maybe that’s my next adventure. Overall, it was a blast diving for these sea creatures. I’ll definitely be doing more of that in the future. Maybe I’ll even find that new one for December next time!
