Alright, so I wanted to try out this “Dark and Darker” game everyone’s been talking about. Turns out, you gotta use this thing called the “Blacksmith” launcher to get it. Sounded simple enough, right? Well, not exactly.
First, I went to the official website and tried to download the installer for this Blacksmith launcher. The website said I needed to register an account, so I did that. Then I downloaded the installer to my desktop. Easy peasy, or so I thought.

I started the installer, accepting all the default settings like a good little gamer. I clicked through everything, even the User Account Control thing. But even after all that clicking and installing, the launcher just wouldn’t work. What a pain! It turns out this Blacksmith thing only works on Windows 10 64-bit. Who knew? I checked, and sure enough, I was on Windows 10, so that wasn’t the problem. Phew!
Then, I tried downloading the actual game, “Dark and Darker,” through the launcher. The download was so slow. It was like 10GB, and after a few hours, I was only at 20%. I even tried using a 加速器, switching locations and all that jazz, but nothing helped. It was like watching paint dry.
After messing around for what felt like forever, I finally stumbled upon a fix. Some genius online said to uninstall this “Microsoft C redistributed 2015” thingy. I went to “add and remove programs,” found it, and uninstalled it. And guess what? It worked! The launcher finally started behaving.
Once I logged in, I saw an “install” button for the game. I clicked that bad boy and started the installation. This time, the download went smoothly, and before I knew it, I was in the game. Finally!
So, yeah, getting “Dark and Darker” through the Blacksmith launcher was a bit of a journey. But hey, at least I got it working in the end. And who knows, maybe this little story will save someone else the headache I went through.
Just remember, if you’re having trouble, try uninstalling that Microsoft C thingy. It might just do the trick!
