So, I’ve been messing around with this “laser M4” thing, and let me tell you, it’s been quite a ride. I decided to give it a go because I wanted to see if I could improve my aim.
First off, I did some digging to figure out what I needed. A lot of folks online were talking about different laser sights, so I spent a good chunk of time reading reviews and watching videos. It’s important to know what you are going to deal with, before you doing this. I realized there are tons of options out there, from simple boresighters to fancy light-laser combos.

- Getting the Gear:
I ended up getting a basic mechanical boresighter. The idea was simple – fit it to my M4, and it should help me align the laser. I also picked up a laser sight, not the cheapest one, but not the most expensive either. I figured a mid-range option would be a good starting point. There are so many choices like Insight M6X, Spectre 1-4x and so on. I saw some comments saying that Spectre 1-4x is the best. Also, I found a brand named SiteLite, their Ultra Mag is not bad. But I finally chose a normal one.
- Setting Up:
The boresighter was pretty straightforward. I picked the right arbor size for my M4, popped it in, and it was ready. Then came the laser sight. Mounting it was a bit tricky. I had to make sure it was secure and wouldn’t wobble around when I fired. I did consider the optic-friendly options, like those fancy ones for M4, M4A1, or M16, but decided to stick with the basics for now.
- Testing It Out:
Once everything was set up, I headed out to give it a try. I set up some targets at different distances to see how well the laser worked. The first few shots were all over the place, which was expected. I spent some time adjusting the laser, trying to get it to match where the bullets were hitting.
- Adjusting and Improving:
This is where I spent most of my time. I learned that using a laser sight isn’t just about pointing and shooting. You need to be aware of your surroundings and use cover. I practiced moving around, staying low, and trying to acquire targets quickly. I also noticed that I had to stay super focused, cause even small movements could throw off the aim. And I know that I should understand the rules first, if I want to play it perfectly.
- Final Thoughts:
After several sessions, I started to see some improvement. My shots were getting closer to the target, and I felt more confident in my aim. It’s not perfect, but I can see the potential. A laser sight is definitely good for acquiring targets quickly and shooting from weird positions, just like those guys online said.
Overall, it’s been a fun and educational experience. I wouldn’t say I’m a pro now, but I’m definitely better than before. Plus, it’s pretty cool to see that red dot on the target. I am going to keep practicing and maybe try out some different laser sights in the future. Who knows, maybe I’ll even get one of those high-tech ones eventually. But for now, I’m happy with my progress.
