Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this Hydreigon thing in the game, trying to figure out the best moveset and all that jazz. It’s been a bit of a journey, let me tell you.
First off, I spent a good chunk of time just catching a bunch of Deino during that June Community Day event thing. Had to get that candy, you know? Finally got enough to evolve one into a Hydreigon. Felt pretty good, not gonna lie.

Then came the tricky part – figuring out which moves to give this beast. I learned that for the charged moves, it really comes down to Dark Pulse or Crunch. After some testing, I realized Dark Pulse is the way to go. It just hits harder, and even though Crunch isn’t terrible, it makes Hydreigon lose a lot of its oomph.
Then I started thinking about how to actually use this thing in battles.
- I tried putting it in the Great League, but it felt kinda squishy there. I think its typing isn’t as bad in the Ultra League, so maybe I’ll test that out.
- But yeah, it’s not super bulky, and it’s got some weaknesses that can be a pain.
So, I figured, maybe I should build this Hydreigon as a “Special Sweeper,” whatever that means. Basically, I wanted it to hit hard and fast. I went ahead and used a bunch of those Hyper Training things on its Special Attack and Speed. Also, I started EV training it in those same stats to really max them out.
From what I’ve seen, because Hydreigon’s Speed isn’t like, top-tier or anything, it helps to have some other Pokémon that can switch in and out to deal with the really fast threats. I’ve been using some Galarian Slowking and Corviknight, since they can handle the likes of Kingambit and Weavile, which were giving my Hydreigon some trouble. Then, I can just smash everything that’s left.
Overall, this Hydreigon is a pretty decent wallbreaker, as people call it. I have a lot of offensive moves, and I can switch them according to the situation. I think I can break through anything that tries to check it. I just keep trying. Still experimenting with different team setups and stuff, but I’m getting there. It’s all about finding what works, right?
Anyway, that’s my Hydreigon story so far. It’s been a fun little project, and I’m excited to see how much better I can make it. If any of you guys have tips or ideas, hit me up!
