So, I’ve been playing Pokemon GO for a while now, and I’ve always been curious about some of the more unusual Pokemon. One that caught my eye was Shedinja. I mean, it’s a literal shed skin of a cicada, how cool is that? But the big question I had was, is Shedinja actually any good in Pokemon GO? I did some digging and tried it out myself, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride.
Getting My Hands on Shedinja
First off, getting a Shedinja isn’t as straightforward as catching a Pidgey. This thing is a bit elusive. I learned that you usually get it as a reward for completing certain research tasks. So, I started grinding through those tasks, hoping to get lucky. After a few weeks, bam! There it was. My very own Shedinja. I was stoked!

Checking Out Shedinja’s Stats
Once I had it, I immediately checked out its stats. Man, was I in for a surprise. In the main Pokemon games, Shedinja is known for its unique ability, Wonder Guard, which makes it immune to all attacks except for those that are super effective. Sounds awesome, right? But here’s the catch – that ability doesn’t exist in Pokemon GO. Instead, Shedinja is left with its poor stats, like seriously low HP. I’m talking about one of the weakest Pokemon ever!
Battling with Shedinja
- First Battle: I was eager to see it in action, so I threw it into a gym battle. Big mistake. It got knocked out almost immediately. I mean, with so many weaknesses like Flying, Rock, Ghost, and Fire, it’s like a sitting duck.
- Second Try: Thinking maybe it was just a bad matchup, I tried again. Nope. Same result. It’s just too easy to take down. I started to see why people online say it’s one of the most useless Pokemon in the game.
- Raid Battles: I even tried using it in a raid battle, thinking maybe it could be a niche pick. But no luck there either. It just couldn’t withstand any powerful attacks.
My Thoughts
Honestly, using Shedinja in battles was disappointing. It’s such a cool concept, but it just doesn’t translate well into Pokemon GO. I felt like I was handicapping myself every time I used it. It’s weak, it’s got too many common weaknesses, and it just can’t keep up with other Pokemon. I even talked to some other players, and they all agreed – Shedinja is more of a novelty than a serious contender.
Conclusion
So, is Shedinja good in Pokemon GO? From my experience, and from what I’ve gathered, sadly, no. It’s a letdown for sure. I really wanted it to be this secret weapon, but it’s just not viable in battles. I still keep it in my collection because, well, it’s a Shedinja! But as far as battling goes, I’ve retired it. If you’re looking for a strong Pokemon, you’re better off looking elsewhere. But if you’re like me and just love collecting unique Pokemon, then sure, go for it. Just don’t expect it to win you any battles!
