Alright, so I’ve been messing around with Madden 20 lately, and let me tell you, it’s been a trip trying to get the rosters up to date for 2023. I mean, it’s not like EA Sports is still pushing out official updates for this game, you know? So, you’re pretty much left to your own devices to figure it out.
First thing I did was hit up the good old internet, searching for any kind of community-made roster files. And you wouldn’t believe the stuff that’s out there. Forum posts, random websites, people sharing their own custom edits. It’s a bit of a wild west, to be honest.

Diving into the Forums
I started digging through the “Operation Sports Forums” because I saw some chatter about “Madden NFL Football Rosters.” Man, there’s a bunch of threads on there. Some were pretty old, but then I found a few promising ones.
- “Madden 25 FFC Retro Rosters (Cross Platform Support) Nov 9, 2024” – This sounded cool, but it was for Madden 25, not what I was looking for.
- “List Of Madden 20 Classic Rosters Draft Classes Sep 3, 2024” – Now we’re talking! But it was mostly about draft classes, and I wanted the full roster.
- “2023-2024 Franchise Fidelity to Reality Roster Project (Official Thread) Oct 13, 2023” – Bingo! This was exactly what I needed. A whole project dedicated to keeping things real.
- “My Current Active Madden20 Roster Files Dec 24” – This one seemed like a good backup plan.
I spent a good chunk of time reading through these threads. Some folks were talking about specific player ratings. Others were debating the best way to handle rookies. It was a lot of information, but kind of fun to see how much effort people put into this stuff.
Finding the Right File
After all that forum browsing, I finally tracked down a roster file that looked solid. It was from that “Franchise Fidelity to Reality Roster Project.” I gotta say, the community really came through on this one. The file was updated with all the big moves, like trades and free agency signings. I figured it is the best one I could find.
Next I tried to search the community file. I was excited to put Tua or Burrow into the SB. I knew that I should go to the NFL shield “creation center” and there is edit roster in there and then I should select update roster and download. And I made it.
Making My Own Tweaks
Now, even with a great community file, there are always a few things you want to tweak, right? So, I hopped into the game’s “Edit Roster” mode. I did some minor adjustments, mostly just personal preferences. Changed a few player ratings here and there, you know, just to make things feel more accurate to me.
Playing the Game
Finally, after all that work, I was ready to actually play some games with the updated rosters. And you know what? It felt pretty awesome. It’s like playing a whole new season of Madden, even though it’s an older game. Seeing all the current players on their new teams, it just makes the experience way more immersive. It might be the greatest Madden experience I ever had!
So, yeah, updating the rosters in Madden 20 for 2023 was a bit of a journey. But honestly, it was kind of fun. It’s cool to see how dedicated the Madden community is, and it’s great that we can still keep these older games alive with a little bit of effort. If you’re still playing Madden 20, I definitely recommend trying to update the rosters yourself. It’s worth it!
