Alright, let’s talk about Gloom, that stinky little Pokemon. I’ve been messing around with it in Pokemon GO, trying to figure out the best way to use this thing. So, I spent some time, you know, battling and experimenting with different moves.
First off, Gloom’s got a few different Charge Attacks. It can learn Petal Blizzard, which is a Grass-type move, Moonblast, a Fairy-type move, and Sludge Bomb, a Poison-type move. You’d think having options is good, right? But honestly, it makes it tough to decide what’s best.

So, I started digging around, looking at what other people were saying. Seems like everyone’s got their own opinion. Some folks swear by Razor Leaf, this fast attack, and I get it. It’s powerful, I used it quite a bit myself in gym battles, and it deals some serious damage. But then I saw some discussions about Acid and Sludge Bomb being a good combo. The idea is that it gives you the highest damage per second, or DPS. DPS is important, right? It’s how fast you can dish out the pain.
- Fast Attacks: I tried out both Razor Leaf and Acid. Razor Leaf is strong, no doubt. But Acid, it’s quicker. It charges up your special moves faster.
- Charge Attacks: This is where it got tricky. I went back and forth between Petal Blizzard, Moonblast, and Sludge Bomb.
- Petal Blizzard: It’s strong against water and ground types.
- Moonblast: Good against fighting, and dragon types.
- Sludge Bomb: It’s a solid Poison move.
After a bunch of battles, I started to lean towards using Acid as the fast move. It just seemed to let me use my Charge Attacks more often. And for the Charge Attack, I ended up liking Sludge Bomb the best. It’s a strong, reliable Poison move, and it did better than others.
But here’s the thing, Gloom isn’t exactly a top-tier Pokemon. I mean, there are a lot of other Grass-types out there that are just, well, better. Vileplume, for example, it’s like Gloom’s bigger, tougher cousin. It’s generally a better choice for battles. But then I thought, “Hey, I need to evolve Gloom into Bellossom anyway to complete my Pokedex.” So, it’s not like all this experimenting was a waste of time. Also, I noticed that there were a few Pokemon that were really good at taking down Gloom, like Mega Rayquaza and Shadow Mewtwo. Those guys are beasts!
So, yeah, that’s my experience with Gloom. It’s not the best, but it’s not the worst. And hey, at least I got a Bellossom out of it, right? And, this whole thing was kind of fun. Now I know a lot more about Gloom’s moves and how to use it. That’s gotta count for something.
