So, I’ve been seeing a lot of folks asking about how many people are actually playing Madden. It’s a good question, right? With a new game dropping every year, you’d think the numbers would be through the roof. I decided to do a little digging myself, and here’s what I found out.
First, I headed over to Steam, since that’s where a lot of PC gamers hang out. I figured that would be a good starting point to gauge the game’s popularity. Steam has this thing called “SteamDB,” which is basically a tracker for all sorts of game stats. I typed in “Madden NFL 25” and waited for the results.

Turns out, according to SteamDB, there were about 1799 players online and playing Madden 25 at the time of my search. Honestly, that number seemed a little low to me. I mean, it’s Madden! But then I remembered that this was just for Steam. It doesn’t account for all the folks playing on consoles like PlayStation and Xbox. Also I checked other version of this game, for example, Madden NFL 23 had 162 players at that moment.
Then I stumbled upon something called a “Popularity Score.” Apparently, it’s a way to measure how popular a game is based on the total number of players and how many are actively playing. The higher the score, the more popular the game. Madden 25’s score wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t breaking any records either.
- Checked SteamDB for player counts.
- Found around 1799 players for Madden NFL 25.
- Discovered the “Popularity Score” metric.
- Realized these numbers only reflect PC players on Steam.
I guess the takeaway here is that while Madden is definitely still a big deal, the player numbers might not be as massive as some people think. At least not on Steam. There’s a whole world of console players out there, too. And of course, these numbers are always changing. I guess it is normal, after all this game started from 1993.
So, there you have it. That’s my little journey into the world of Madden player counts. Hope you found it interesting!
