Okay, so today I wanna talk about how I handled going up against Ashe in my recent matches. It’s been a bit of a journey, and I’ve picked up a few things along the way that I thought might be helpful to share.
Getting Started: Understanding the Problem
First off, I noticed Ashe was giving me a hard time. She’s got that long range, and her slow is super annoying. I was getting poked down a lot, and it felt like I couldn’t get close without eating a ton of damage. Plus, her ultimate, that big arrow, kept catching me off guard. I knew I had to do something different.

Experimenting with Different Heroes
So, I started trying out different heroes that I thought could deal with her. My first thought was to go with mobile heroes that can jump on her quickly.
- Tracer: I tried Tracer first. Her blink is great for dodging Ashe’s arrows, and I could get in close to do some damage. But honestly, it was kinda hit or miss. Sometimes I’d get a good flank, other times I’d just get blown up before I could do much.
- Genji: Next, I tried Genji. His deflect was useful against Ashe’s basic attacks, and his swift strike let me close the distance. It worked okay, but I still felt like I was struggling to finish her off.
- Doomfist: Then there was Doomfist. The idea was to just punch her into a wall and burst her down. It was fun when it worked, but a good Ashe could still keep me at bay. Also, I’m not the best Doomfist player, so that might have been part of the problem.
After those, I thought maybe I needed to outrange her instead.
- Widowmaker: Widowmaker seemed like a good choice. I could stay far away and try to pick her off. This worked pretty well, especially on maps with long sightlines. But, if I missed my shots, I was basically useless.
- Winston and *: Dive was another idea. Winston and * can jump right on top of Ashe and disrupt her. It was effective, especially when our team coordinated the dive. But if Ashe had a pocket healer, it became a lot tougher.
Finding What Worked Best
After trying all that, I started to see which heroes were giving me the most success. I also went to check some online data, and saw some heroes such as Hwei, Nilah, Swain, Seraphine, and Ziggs were also good choices. I realized that high mobility or long range was the way to go. I also noticed that if I could bait out her volley or her coach gun, it was a good time to engage.
Adjusting My Playstyle
It wasn’t just about the hero I picked, though. I also had to change how I played. I started playing more patiently, waiting for the right opportunity to strike. I also focused on dodging her arrows and using cover to my advantage. For example, with Miss Fortune, I would wait until Ashe didn’t have her Q, then I would be more aggressive. And if I was playing someone like Widowmaker, I’d try to find off-angles where Ashe wouldn’t expect me. Or I would try to keep tracking Ashe’s cooldown. Like, after she used her coach gun, I knew she had no escape, so I would try to jump on her. These small things started to make a big difference.
The Results
After all this experimenting and adjusting, I finally started to see some improvement. I was winning more duels against Ashe, and I felt like I had more control over the matchup. It wasn’t an instant fix, and I still had games where I struggled, but overall, I felt a lot more confident going up against her. Also, I found that Ashe was strong in the early game, but got weaker as the game went on, so I would try to avoid fighting her too much in the beginning.
So, that’s my story of dealing with Ashe. It took some trial and error, but I learned a lot in the process. Hopefully, my experience can help some of you out there who are also struggling against her. Just remember to be patient, experiment with different heroes and strategies, and don’t be afraid to adjust your playstyle. Good luck!
