Man, you won’t believe the rollercoaster I’ve been on with this whole “DBL Live” situation. So, picture this: It’s early 2023, and I’m all hyped up about “Daily Blast Live”. I’d been following them since they switched things up from that BOLD thing, and I was a die-hard fan ever since they replaced that T.D. Jakes show. I even remember when Tegna, the big company behind it, was shopping the show around with MGM, trying to get it onto more channels.
But then, bam! Out of nowhere, news drops that “DBL Live” is getting the axe. I was stunned, man. It felt like someone just yanked the rug out from under me. This show was my daily dose of fun, you know? Anyway, I wasn’t the only one feeling this way. A bunch of us fans got together online, sharing videos about why we loved the show and wanted it to stay. We even started a petition, and get this – over 9,600 people signed it! That’s some serious love right there.

- First: In early 2023, I got the news that “Daily Blast Live” was canceled.
- Second: I found out the show will end after Sept. 6, 2024.
- Third: I was super disappointed and joined others in sharing videos and signing a petition to save the show.
- Fourth: We got over 9,600 signatures, but it wasn’t enough.
But, sadly, it wasn’t enough. Tegna decided to “sunset” the show, which is just a fancy way of saying they’re canceling it. I even saw some people online asking Tegna why they did it, but it didn’t change anything. The official word came out on a Thursday – “DBL Live” will stop production in early September. They thanked the on-air people and the production team, but that didn’t make it any easier for us fans. Then there is something they share to us viewers, “whether you’ve been with us for the past seven years or if you just found us recently, the company we work for has made the decision to end DBL’s run. Our final show will be on September 6th”. I even saw someone say that their final show is on September 6th, and they thanked us for the support and the petition. It was a nice gesture, but it still sucks that it’s ending.
My Thoughts on All This
It’s a real bummer, you know? I get that shows face controversies and sometimes the number of people watching goes down, but “DBL Live” was special. It was like hanging out with friends every day. I guess all good things come to an end, but I’m still bummed. I’ll miss those guys and their energetic, funny, and sometimes even thought-provoking debates. Seven seasons of good times, man. It’s the end of an era.
They even mentioned that KUSA in Denver will be adding another newscast at 3 pm in place of “DBL Live.” I guess that’s something, but it’s not the same. And “DBL Live” used to be the replacement for “The Insider,” so it’s like history repeating itself.
