I’ve been getting really into Animal Crossing lately, and I’ve been trying to build up my museum’s art collection. I heard that there’s this statue called “David” that you can get, and I really wanted to add it to my collection.
So, first, I had to find this sneaky art dealer named Redd. Sometimes he shows up on his boat, the “Jolly Redd’s Treasure Trawler,” or sometimes he sets up shop on Harv’s Island. It’s always a gamble with him. I checked both places a few times and finally spotted his boat docked at my island’s secret beach.

Getting inside, I saw he had a bunch of art pieces, including the David statue, which in the game they call the “Gallant Statue.” But here’s the tricky part – Redd is notorious for selling fakes, I’ve read some guides online, and they said the fake David statue usually has him holding a book under his right arm. Luckily, I remembered that detail. I looked closely, and thankfully, this one didn’t have any book. It looked like the real deal.
I bought it for a few thousand Bells. It wasn’t cheap, but I figured it was worth it for a genuine piece. When I got it, I immediately ran to the museum and donated it to Blathers. He confirmed it was real! I was so relieved. Now I have a genuine Gallant Statue in my museum.
I decided to create a little pond area outside the museum and put the statue right in the middle. It looks pretty majestic there. It wasn’t hard to get, just a bit of waiting around for Redd to show up and making sure I didn’t get scammed with a fake. But overall, I’m super happy with my new addition!
- Check Harv’s Island and your secret beach regularly for Redd.
- Inspect the Gallant Statue closely for a book under the right arm – that’s a sign it’s a fake.
- Donate the statue to the museum to confirm its authenticity.
Tips
- The real Gallant Statue doesn’t have a book.
- You can only buy one piece of art per day from Redd.
