So, today I really wanted to dive into “Sea of Thieves” and just chill with some pirate adventures. I’ve been looking forward to it all week. I launched the game, picked my ship, and hit “Set Sail,” ready to go.
But then, bam! I got stuck on this loading screen that just says “Searching the Seas.” It wouldn’t budge, no matter how long I waited. I mean, I stared at that screen forever, hoping it would eventually load, but nothing happened. It was super frustrating.

At first, I thought maybe the servers were overloaded or something. You know how it is when everyone’s trying to play at the same time. I decided to give it a bit more time, thinking it might just be a temporary hiccup. But nope, still stuck.
I tried restarting the game a couple of times. You know, the good old “turn it off and on again” trick. Each time I relaunched it, I was hopeful that this would be the time it worked. But every time, I ended up right back at the same “Searching the Seas” screen. It was like the game was teasing me!
Then I remembered something I saw online about this issue. Someone mentioned that you should avoid trying to rejoin your previous session. They said it might just repeat the problem. So, when I restarted the game again, I made sure to start a new session instead of rejoining. Still no luck.
Here’s what I ended up doing that finally worked:
- I pressed the Xbox button on my controller.
- Then, I hit the “burger” button (you know, the one with the three lines) to bring up the menu.
- I selected “Quit” to completely close the game.
After that, I launched “Sea of Thieves” again, and this time, I made doubly sure not to join my previous session. And guess what? It worked! I finally got past that annoying “Searching the Seas” screen and could start playing. I was so relieved and pretty stoked to finally get into the game.
It was a bit of a hassle, but hey, it worked out in the end. Just goes to show, sometimes you gotta get a bit forceful with these games. I’ve had to do this a few times now, and it seems to do the trick. Hopefully, this helps someone else out there who’s pulling their hair out over this issue.
