Alright, folks, gather ’round, gather ’round! I’ve been tinkering with this new thing in League of Legends called Smolder, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. So I’m here today to share my experiences with you all.
First off, I jumped into the game, picked Smolder, and thought, “Okay, what’s the best way to play this little dragon?” I tried him out in a few matches, and boy, was I all over the place! Top lane, jungle, mid – you name it, I tried it. Even played him bot lane like any regular AD carry. Let me just say, it was a mess.

Then I had this bright idea – what if I played Smolder as a support? I know, I know, it sounds crazy. People were giving me the side-eye in-game, and I even got some flak for it. But hey, gotta experiment, right?
So, I started pairing Smolder with different champions. At first, I tried going all-in with aggressive supports. Think Leona, Nautilus – the whole shebang. We’d dive in, try to get some early kills, and sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t. It was a bit of a gamble, to be honest.
After that, I did a complete 180. I switched to super defensive supports. Janna and Morgana, for example. These guys were great at keeping me safe while I farmed up and stacked my abilities. It was a slower, more calculated playstyle, and it felt a lot more consistent.
Here are some of the specific pairings that stood out during my experiments:
- Smolder and Janna: Janna’s shields and heals were amazing. They really helped me stay alive in lane, and her tornados were perfect for setting up kills or escaping sticky situations.
- Smolder and Morgana: Morgana’s Black Shield was a lifesaver. It blocked so much crowd control, it was insane. Plus, her binding ability is great for locking down targets for me to finish off.
I also messed around with some other supports, like having Teemo put shrooms everywhere, but they didn’t quite click like Janna and Morgana did. Also, I tried to play with some aggressively supports, but I failed.
In the end, I found that playing Smolder as a support works best when you focus on playing safe, farming up, and scaling into the late game. It’s all about picking the right partner to complement your playstyle. It took a while, but I think I’ve finally cracked the code – at least for now. Who knows what new strategies I’ll come up with tomorrow?
So, there you have it. My journey to figuring out this whole Smolder support thing. It’s been a blast, and I hope you guys found it helpful. Now, I will experiment with variations at some point in the future. I want to see if I can make this little dragon work in every role imaginable. Until then, keep experimenting, keep learning, and most importantly, keep having fun!
