Alright, folks, gather ’round! Today, I wanna talk about my journey figuring out the best moveset for Honchkrow in Pokémon GO. It’s been a bit of a ride, let me tell you.
So, I started out with this Honchkrow, right? Pretty decent stats, but I felt like it wasn’t really living up to its potential. I mean, it’s a cool-looking bird, and I wanted it to kick some serious butt in gyms and raids. First off, I tried a few different combinations, just kinda winging it, you know? I experimented with a variety of moves, and let me just say, some were, uh, less than impressive. And you know, some were okay, but still nothing to write home about.

Then, I did what any sensible person would do – I hit the internet. I started digging through forums and guides, trying to find some solid advice. And that’s when I came across a suggestion that really changed the game: Snarl and Brave Bird. Now, I’d heard of these moves before, but I hadn’t really given them much thought. But folks online were saying that this combo was the way to go for maximum damage, especially when attacking gyms. Plus, they mentioned it was pretty darn good for PvP battles too.
My Experiment
So, I decided to give it a shot. I used a few of those Charged TMs and Fast TMs I’d been hoarding, and boom, my Honchkrow was ready to roll with its new moveset. It takes a bit to save them up, but trust me, it’s worth it.
- First, I took it to a few gyms. And man, the difference was night and day! Snarl was charging up energy like crazy, and then Brave Bird just demolished those poor gym defenders. I was taking down Pokémon left and right, and it felt great.
I was also hitting pretty hard, which is always a plus.
- Next, I tried it out in some PvP battles. Again, I was impressed. Snarl was a great fast move, letting me put pressure on my opponents and build up to those powerful Brave Bird attacks. Sure, Brave Bird does make Honchkrow take some damage too, but the sheer power usually makes it worth the risk.
- I also did some raids with it. I learned that Honchkrow may not be the best in raids, but it’s still pretty good. But if you have the option, Sky Attack is probably better for raids than Brave Bird. I did some tests, and it worked out better for me.
But, you know, I’m not one to just take other people’s word for it. I did my own tests, and I can confirm – Snarl and Brave Bird is a killer combo for Honchkrow. I mean, it’s not just about the damage, but also about how well the moves work together. If you want to do raids though, I’d say go with Sky Attack as your charged move. I tried it out, and it did better.
And hey, I also learned that Honchkrow has some pretty neat immunities, like to Ground and Psychic moves. That’s super helpful in certain matchups. Plus, it’s got access to some cool support moves like Substitute and Thunder Wave, although I haven’t really used those much myself.
So, there you have it. My journey to finding the best moveset for Honchkrow. It was a fun experiment, and I’m really happy with the results. If you’ve got a Honchkrow, I highly recommend giving Snarl and Brave Bird (or Sky Attack for raids) a try. You won’t regret it!
