Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this Poliwrath in Pokémon Go, and let me tell you, figuring out the right moveset was a bit of a journey. I started off just catching a bunch of Poliwags, evolving them up, and hoping for the best. No real plan, just winging it. Eventually, I got a Poliwrath with decent IVs, so I decided to get serious about making it battle-ready.
First thing I did was check out what other players were saying online. It seemed like everyone was talking about Bubble and Dynamic Punch being the go-to moves for attacking Gyms. Apparently, this combo does the most damage per second, which is obviously what you want. Plus, they’re both Fighting-type moves, so they get that sweet same-type attack bonus, doing 20% extra damage. That sounded pretty good to me, so I went with it.

I used some TMs – Charged TMs and Fast TMs – to change the moves. That took a bit of resources and lots of trys, but I eventually got Bubble and Dynamic Punch on my Poliwrath. Honestly, it was a game-changer. This thing started crushing it in Gym battles. I could take down way stronger Pokémon just because of that high damage output.
But then I started thinking about PvP battles. After some more digging around, I realized that Counter is a better Fast Move for PvP. It generates energy quicker, so you can use your Charged Move more often. I ended up using another Fast TM to switch out Bubble for Counter.
Now, for the Charged Move, there was some debate. Some people swear by Power-Up Punch because it’s fast and boosts your attack. Others say Ice Punch is useful for coverage against those pesky Grass-types and some flying-types. For now I’ve kept Dynamic Punch because it hits like a truck. I spent so many Charged TMs on getting this Dynamic Punch, and I don’t want to just waste them. Maybe I’ll experiment with Ice Punch or Power-Up Punch later, but for now, this is working pretty well.
- Fast Move: Counter
- Charged Move: Dynamic Punch
My final moveset so far is:
I’m still learning and tweaking things, but this Poliwrath with Counter and Dynamic Punch has become a real beast in both Gyms and PvP battles. It’s been a fun process of experimenting and seeing what works. And I have to say, there is nothing more satisfying than watching your well-trained Pokémon just demolish the competition. I am not sure if this is the best moveset, but it works for me, and I think this is the most important thing. Maybe someday I will change the moves, but I don’t have much Charged TMs and Fast TMs now. For me, I am really satisfied with the result now.
