Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this “Genesect Burn Drive” thing in Pokemon GO for a bit now, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. I heard it was back in the five-star raids, starting from September 16th, so I thought, “Why not give it a shot?”
First things first, I needed to figure out what this thing even was. Turns out, it’s a Mythical Bug and Steel-type Pokemon. Pretty cool, right? And this particular one, the Burn Drive version, has this special move called “Techno Blast (Burn).” That’s the main reason I was even interested in this Pokemon.

Next, I started looking into how to actually get one. It’s a five-star raid boss, which means it’s tough. I read somewhere that you could even beat it by yourself because it’s super weak to Fire-type attacks. So, I gathered my strongest Fire-type Pokemon, like my trusty Charizard and a couple of Moltres, and headed to the nearest gym.
- I saw that Genesect had a stamina of 174. Not too shabby, but definitely beatable with the right team.
- Then I dug into its moves. I found out about all sorts of moves like fast moves, charged moves, even legacy and elite moves. But honestly, I was mostly focused on that Techno Blast.
The raid itself was intense! My Fire-types did some serious damage. It took a few tries, and I had to revive some Pokemon, but eventually, I took it down. And guess what? I caught it! My very own Genesect with the Burn Drive.
PvP? Maybe Not…
Now, I’ve heard some folks talking about using Genesect in PvP battles. From what I’ve seen, it’s not exactly a top-tier choice, especially since it costs a ton of resources to unlock its second charged move. I checked out some recommendations, and it seems like “Fury Cutter,” “Magnet Bomb,” and “X-Scissor” are the usual go-to moves for PvP.
- Someone recommended swapping out “X-Scissor” for the Water-type Techno Blast in the Ultra League, but I’m not sure I’m ready for that level of competition yet.
- I learned that Genesect is super weak to Fire but strong against a bunch of other types like Normal, Grass, Poison, and a few more.
Honestly, I’m just happy to have this rare Pokemon in my collection. It was a fun challenge to take on the raid, and I learned a lot about Genesect in the process. I might not use it in PvP battles, but it’s still a cool Pokemon to have. For now, it’s chilling in my storage, and I’m just enjoying the fact that I managed to snag one!
