Alright, so I’ve been messing around with replays in CS:GO lately, trying to get those epic moments saved and maybe even figure out where I’m going wrong in some matches. It’s not as straightforward as I thought it would be, but I’ve finally gotten the hang of the basic replay controls. I thought I’d share my experience, in case any of you guys are struggling with it too.
Starting the replay
First off, I had to find where my replays were actually saved. Turns out, they’re tucked away in the CS:GO folder. Once I got that sorted, I loaded up the replay I wanted to watch.

Basic controls – Shift+F2 is your friend
The first thing I figured out was how to actually bring up the controls. The internet told me that pressing “Shift” + “F2” should do the trick, and it did. That popped up the demo playback UI, which has all the usual play, pause, fast forward, and rewind buttons. Super simple, really. It was also easy to use a wide range of features, including the fast-forward, while viewing my match.
The console – For when you need more control
Then there’s the console. I opened the console by pressing the tilde key (~) – that’s the one just below the Esc key. I typed in “demoui” and hit Enter. Then it showed the DemoUI. This gave me a few more options, like jumping to specific rounds. Handy for skipping the boring bits.
- Load: This lets you load up any replay file you’ve got.
- Stop: Stops the replay. Kind of obvious.
- Time: Shows you how far into the replay you are.
- Tick: This is more granular than time. You can see exactly what tick the replay is at.
Wrapping up
So yeah, that’s pretty much it for the basic replay controls in CS:GO. Once I got the hang of these, I could easily navigate through my replays, find the moments I wanted to rewatch, and even slow down the action to see what was happening in those crazy firefights. It’s a bit of a learning curve, but once you know these commands, it’s a piece of cake.
Hope this helps some of you guys out there. Let me know if you’ve got any other cool replay tricks!
