Today, I wanted to share my experience with catching and evolving a Rapidash in Pokemon GO. It’s not as straightforward as just finding one in the wild, so I figured I’d walk you through how I got mine.
First off, you can’t catch a Rapidash directly. You gotta start with a Ponyta. So, I started my hunt for a Ponyta. I knew they could be found in the wild, but it’s kind of hit or miss. To boost my chances, I used some Incense and popped a Lure Module at a nearby PokeStop. These things help attract more Pokemon to your location, which increases your odds of running into a Ponyta. I just knew Ponyta would appear more frequently in the wild, making it easier to collect enough Candy to evolve into Rapidash. Fortunately, it took some time, but I finally encountered one and caught it.

- Look for Ponyta in the wild. They can pop up anywhere, but I found parks and open fields to be good spots.
- Use Incense to draw more Pokemon to you. It’s like setting up a beacon for them.
- Set up a Lure Module at a PokeStop. This attracts Pokemon to that specific location for a while, benefiting anyone nearby.
How to catch a Ponyta:
Once you’ve caught a Ponyta, the next step is evolving it. You need 50 Ponyta Candies to evolve it into Rapidash. Every time you catch a Ponyta, you get some candy, plus you can get more by transferring extra Ponytas to the Professor. After a bit of walking and catching, I finally got my hands on enough candies. I hit the evolve button, and boom, there it was, my very own Rapidash.
Now, I also heard about Galarian Rapidash. It’s important to note that you can’t catch Galarian Rapidash in the wild either. I need to catch a Galarian Ponyta first and evolve it. It turns out, you catch a Galarian Ponyta and evolve it with the same 50 candies. I haven’t done that yet, but it’s on my list. Galarian Rapidash is like Galarian Ponyta, but bigger, so I am gonna give it a try.
From my understanding, Rapidash is a Fire-type Pokemon with some good attack stats but not the best defense. It’s got some cool moves, I learned. This is the whole process I did, hope my sharing is helpful.
