Okay, so, I’ve been totally obsessed with Animal Crossing: New Horizons lately. My island is looking pretty sweet, but I really wanted to step up my flower game. I heard about these hyacinth flowers and how you could get different colors, so I decided to give it a shot.
First, I went and bought a bunch of hyacinth seeds from Nook’s Cranny. I got red, yellow, and white because those are the basics, you know? Then, I started planting them all over my island. I read somewhere that you should plant them diagonally from each other, with spaces in between, to get them to cross-breed. I’m not sure I did it perfect, but I was just winging it really. Some of my flowers were too close to other flowers, so I moved them, so that they had at least two spaces away.
I made sure to water them every day. Gotta keep those little guys hydrated! It felt like it took forever, but eventually, I started seeing some new colors pop up. I got some orange ones, which was cool, but the real prize was the blue ones. They’re so pretty!
- Bought hyacinth seeds (red, yellow, white)
- Planted them diagonally, with spaces
- Watered them daily
- Got new colors (orange, and finally, blue!)
My Flower Breeding Area
I think I even saw a pink one the other day, but I’m not 100% sure. It might have been my imagination, haha. Maybe I need to do some more research on how to get those pink ones specifically. I remember seeing something about cross-pollinating red and white ones to get pink, so that might be my next experiment. Oh, and somewhere online I think I saw that you could use a fence to help with breeding, so I built a little 2×2 fenced area to try that out.
It’s been a lot of trial and error, but it’s so satisfying when you finally get the colors you want. My island is looking so much more colorful now, and I’m pretty proud of my little hyacinth garden. I’m definitely going to keep experimenting with different combinations to see what else I can create. Maybe I’ll even try to breed some blue roses next. Wish me luck! Those are a real challenge from what I hear, but it would be awesome to have some on my island.
