Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with Madden NFL 23 lately, and I gotta talk about Trey Lance’s rating. It’s been bugging me, and I just had to get this off my chest.
I started up the game, excited to see how my favorite players were rated. I went straight to check out Trey Lance, ’cause, you know, he’s supposed to be the future, right? Well, let me tell you, I was pretty surprised.

His overall rating is only 64. Yeah, you heard that right. 64! I mean, come on, the guy’s got wheels, he can make plays, and he’s shown flashes of brilliance. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I was just like, “What are these Madden guys thinking?”
- I started digging into his attributes. First thing I noticed, his agility is 89. That’s actually pretty decent for a QB. So far, so good, I thought.
- But then, I saw his strength…oh boy. It’s not good. I mean, I know he’s not a powerlifter, but it’s low, real low.
- Next, I decided to compare him to other quarterbacks. I found out he’s rated higher than Jameis Winston, Teddy Bridgewater, Drew Lock, and Carson Wentz. They all got a 74. A bit of a relief, I guess, but still, those guys aren’t exactly the cream of the crop.
The Second-Year QBs
Then, I looked at the other second-year quarterbacks, just to see how Trey stacked up against his peers.
- Mac Jones is leading the pack with a 78.
- Trevor Lawrence is at 76.
- Justin Fields has a 74.
- Zach Wilson is sitting at 73.
- And then there’s Trey Lance, way down at 64.
I even checked out some rookies. Desmond Ridder got a 70, and Malik Willis got a 69. They’re both rated higher than Trey! Rookies! I just shook my head. I was so confused.
The Top Dogs
For fun, I peeked at the top-rated quarterbacks, just to get some perspective.
- Tom Brady, obviously, is at the top with a 97.
- Aaron Rodgers is right behind him.
Those guys are legends, so no surprises there. But still, it made Trey’s 64 look even worse.
I spent hours messing around in the Madden Ultimate Team Database and the Team Builder, trying different lineups, seeing if I could make Trey work. I mean, there’s gotta be a way to use him effectively, right?
Honestly, after all that, I’m still scratching my head. I just don’t get it. Trey Lance has so much potential, and his Madden rating just doesn’t reflect that. It’s frustrating, man. I ended up feeling like I wasted a whole afternoon. Anyway, I had to share this with someone, anyone who would listen. It’s just been bothering me, you know?
