Alright, so, I’ve been grinding away on Pokemon GO lately, and I’ve been trying to snag that shiny Gold Hoenn Medal. Let me tell you, it’s been a journey. I’ve been walking around like crazy, phone glued to my hand, hoping to bump into those Hoenn region Pokemon.
First off, I had to remind myself what this whole Hoenn thing was about. Turns out, it’s all about catching those specific Pokemon that originally came from the Hoenn region in the games. I’m not talking about just any old Pidgey or Rattata, you know? We’re looking for the likes of Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, and all their buddies. There are 135 Pokemon species in the Hoenn region, but I just needed to catch 90 for this medal.
So, I started out by just playing like normal, but being way more focused on catching everything I saw. I figured if I just kept at it, I’d eventually stumble upon enough Hoenn Pokemon. I was also keeping an eye out for any nests or events that might feature those specific Pokemon. And I use some pokeballs to catch them.
Then, I started getting into trading. I’ve got a few friends who play, and we started swapping Pokemon. I found this was a good way to fill in some gaps in my Pokedex when I found other Pokemon. I was evolving a lot of Pokemon too, using up those candies I’d been hoarding. Every little bit helps, right?
I also started paying more attention to raids and events. Sometimes, they’d have Hoenn Pokemon as rewards, and that was a great way to knock a few off the list. There were some days that I just could not catch anything, I mean, come on! I also fed some berries to Pokemon in some gyms. I took a lot of walking to see new gyms and defeat them.
Honestly, it took a while. I mean, we’re talking weeks of playing pretty consistently. But, I kept checking my Pokedex, seeing how many Hoenn Pokemon I had, and I could see that number slowly creeping up. I even set little goals for myself, like “Okay, I’m gonna catch at least five new Hoenn Pokemon today.”
And then, finally, it happened. I caught some random Zigzagoon, I think it was, and boom! That Gold Hoenn Medal popped up on my screen. It felt pretty good, not gonna lie. All that walking, all that catching, all that trading, it was finally worth it. It is a good way to kill time, anyway.
My Tips:
- Catch Everything: Even if you think you have it, catch it anyway. You might need it for evolution.
- Trade with Friends: This is a lifesaver if you’re missing some.
- Focus on Events and Raids: They often feature specific Pokemon.
- Check Your Pokedex: Keep track of your progress and set small goals.
- Evolve: Do not forget to evolve those Pokemon, using up those candies.
