Hey everyone, today I want to talk about something I’ve been messing around with in Starfield – actor values. Now, I’m no expert, but I’ve spent a good chunk of time trying to figure this stuff out, and it’s been a bit of a wild ride.
So, first off, I started by trying to understand what actor values even are. Turns out, they’re basically just the stats and attributes for characters and NPCs in the game. I found this command, “getAV”, which is supposed to show you the current value of an attribute. Sounds simple enough, right?
Well, not quite. I tried using “getAV” on all sorts of things – my character, some random NPCs, you name it. But here’s the thing: I couldn’t get any numbers back. It was like the game was just ignoring me. I even tried another command, “getAVinfo”, which is supposed to give you more detailed info, but still nothing. It was pretty frustrating, to say the least.
Then I thought, maybe I need to try setting these values instead of just getting them. So I started experimenting with ways to change actor values. I tried setting up a Magic Effect that attached to the actor value, then create a Spell that triggers that effect, nothing worked as I expected. But I had to select it first with the mouse before trying to get or set the value, or it just wouldn’t work. I felt like I was getting closer, but not quite there yet.
I also spent some time reading up on guides and tips. Some were specific to the Steam version of the game and Windows 10, and there were even some about using Nexus Mod Manager. It was a lot to take in, especially for someone like me who’s not super tech-savvy. And with Starfield being such a huge game, it’s easy to get lost in all the mechanics and systems.
Here’s what I learned from other players:
- Particle beams are apparently the way to go for weapons. They’re not necessarily the most damaging, but they’re convenient because you don’t have to switch between different weapon systems.
- There are tons of character traits to choose from, and it can be overwhelming. I spent a good amount of time just trying to figure out which ones would suit my playstyle.
Honestly, the whole experience has been a mix of confusion and excitement. I’m still not 100% sure I understand everything about actor values, but I’m definitely learning as I go. And that’s what makes it fun, right? Trying to figure things out, experimenting, and sharing what I learn with you all. And honestly, after spending hours on this, I feel like I’ve only scratched the surface. Starfield is one of those games where you can sink in hundreds of hours and still discover new things, and that’s kind of exciting, but also a little scary when you think about the time commitment, haha!
