Okay, so, I’ve been playing a ton of Pokemon Go lately, and I got really into figuring out which Pokemon are the best for dishing out damage. Let me tell you, it’s been a journey, haha. Here’s how it all went down.
First, I started catching everything in sight, just like any new trainer, right? I didn’t really care about stats or anything, just wanted to fill up my Pokedex. But then I started getting into raids, and man, some of those legendary Pokemon are tough cookies! I quickly realized that my random team wasn’t cutting it.

So, I did what any sensible person would do – I hit the internet. I started reading about DPS, which I learned stands for “damage per second.” It became pretty clear that this was the key to winning those tough battles. The higher the DPS, the faster you can knock out the opponent, simple as that.
The research began by collecting all high DPS candidates, like Mega Rayquaza with Dragon Tail and Dragon Ascent, as well as Primal Groudon with Ground-type moves. These were constantly being mentioned as the best ones. I felt a bit overwhelmed, to be honest. There’s a lot of info out there, and not all of it is easy to understand. But I kept at it, reading articles, watching videos, and comparing stats.
Experiment
Then came the fun part – experimenting! I started powering up some of the Pokemon that were mentioned as top DPS contenders. I used up a bunch of Stardust and Candies, but it was worth it. I started testing them out in battles, taking notes on how quickly they could take down different opponents.
- Mega Rayquaza: I got my hands on a Rayquaza and Mega Evolved it. Holy moly, this thing is a beast! Dragon Tail and Dragon Ascent just shred through opponents. Definitely a top pick for raids.
- Primal Groudon: I also managed to get a Groudon during a special event and gave it its Primal form. Ground-type moves are super effective against a lot of raid bosses, making Primal Groudon a solid choice.
Also found that the Pokemon’s stats are generated by the server. So, if you’re under level 30, the stats are re-generated when you encounter a Pokemon. But if you’re above level 30, the stats are fixed, and everyone catches the same Pokemon with the same stats. I learned that while testing all of these out.
I kept experimenting with different Pokemon and teams, and I started to get a real feel for which ones were the most effective. It wasn’t just about the numbers, but also about how they felt in battle. Some Pokemon might have high DPS on paper, but they’re too fragile and get knocked out too quickly. I learned that finding the right balance between damage output and survivability is key. Especially in tough raids.
Refine
After all the tests, I put together a list of my go-to Pokemon for raids and battles. I also made sure to keep an eye out for special events and Community Days, which often feature Pokemon with powerful moves that can boost their DPS.
And now? Well, I’m still learning and experimenting, but I’m definitely much better prepared for those tough battles. My raid team is lookin’ pretty sweet, if I do say so myself. It’s been a fun process, and I’m excited to see what new Pokemon and challenges the future holds. If you’re getting into Pokemon Go, don’t be afraid to experiment and find out what works best for you. Happy hunting!
