Alright, so I’ve been messing around with this whole blacksmithing thing in Dragonflight, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey. I decided to dive deep into the specializations, you know, to see what all the fuss is about. I started off just crafting whatever, but then I realized if I wanted to get serious, I had to pick a path.
First off, I leveled up my blacksmithing by just making stuff that gave me skill points. It was kind of slow going at first. I mean, you can only get to level 50 out of 100 by just using the basic recipes. I quickly got bored with that and realized I needed to push further if I wanted to get to the max level. I started to farm some renown and started messing around with these Knowledge points to unlock new recipes, it took me quite a long time to completely finish it.

Then came the big decision: which specialization to choose? There are four of them: Armorsmithing, Weaponsmithing, Specialty Smithing, and Hammer Control. After doing some digging, I decided to go with Specialty Smithing. I figured, why not? It seemed interesting, dealing with weapon gems, professional tools, and alloys. I got to the point where I was focusing on making those high-quality goods using this new thing called Concentration. Man, that was a game-changer. I got, like, 1000 of it, which is apparently the max you can have. I guess it’s like that for every crafting profession, but yeah, it really helped me up my game.
So, I started pumping out these specialized items, some for myself, some for crafting orders. It felt good to finally be making stuff that not everyone could just whip up. I kept pushing, kept learning, and eventually, I got pretty darn good at it, if I do say so myself.
The whole process was a bit of a grind, not gonna lie. But it was worth it. I mean, I went from just banging on metal to actually creating some pretty cool stuff. And the best part? I got to figure it all out my way. Dragonflight really lets you do your own thing with these specializations, and that’s what I liked about it.
Here’s a little breakdown of what I did, just in case you’re thinking of getting into it:
- Leveled up blacksmithing to 50 using vendor recipes.
- Farmed renown and used Knowledge points to unlock more recipes and get to level 100.
- Chose the Specialty Smithing specialization.
- Learned to use Concentration to improve the quality of my crafted goods.
- Made a bunch of specialized items for myself and others.
Anyway, that’s my story. It wasn’t always easy, but I had a blast. If you’re into crafting and want to try something new, I definitely recommend giving blacksmithing in Dragonflight a shot. Just be ready to put in the work!
