Alright, so I’ve been messing around with this game called “Dark and Darker” lately, and I figured I’d share a little trick I stumbled upon. It’s about getting the game’s launcher to work a bit more smoothly, especially if you’re trying to use it with Steam.
So, the first thing I did was download the game. Pretty standard stuff, right? You can get it from the usual places. Once it’s on your computer, you gotta install it. Again, nothing too crazy there.

Now, here’s where it gets a little interesting. I noticed that if you just try to run the game the normal way, it doesn’t always play nice with Steam. You know, like not tracking your hours or letting you use the Steam overlay. That’s a bummer, right?
So, I started digging around, and I found out that there’s this thing called “Legendary Status” that you can get for free. Don’t ask me why it’s called that, I have no clue. But anyway, if you grab that, it seems to make things work better.
To get it, I just went to that Epic Games place today. I don’t use Epic Games much, but it was the only way I could find to get that free “Legendary Status”. It only took a few minutes to download and install.
After I did that, I tried launching “Dark and Darker” again, but this time I made sure to do it through Steam. And guess what? It worked! Steam was tracking my hours, the overlay was working, everything was good.
Here’s how I did it, step-by-step:
- Downloaded and installed “Dark and Darker”.
- Went to the Epic Games Store and got that free “Legendary Status” thing.
- Downloaded and installed that too.
- Launched “Dark and Darker” through Steam.
- Enjoyed playing the game with all the Steam features working.
But a quick heads-up, I played around with the game, trying to level up my character, and I found the main way to level up is to kill enemies. You can kill those NPC enemies or real players. Every time you kill an enemy, you get some experience points. And the number of points you get depends on the enemy’s level and type. Oh, and I also found out that you get bonus points if you kill them in stealth mode or with a backstab. Pretty cool, huh?
So yeah, that’s my little “Dark and Darker” launcher adventure. I hope this helps some of you out there who might be having the same issues. It’s not exactly rocket science, but it took me a bit of trial and error to figure out. Happy gaming, everyone!
