Okay, so I finally caught a Firefly Squid in Animal Crossing New Horizons, and I’m here to spill the beans on how I did it!
First things first, I got myself a Wet Suit. I remember reading somewhere that you need one to catch sea creatures, so I headed over to Nook’s Cranny and bought one for 3,000 bells. It’s not cheap, but trust me, it’s worth it.

Once I was suited up, I took a nice and slow swim in the ocean. I knew the Firefly Squid was a sea creature, so I figured the ocean was the place to be. And boy, was I right!
- I swam around for a bit, just enjoying the scenery and keeping an eye out for any interesting shadows in the water.
- Then, I spotted a small, fast-moving shadow. I dove down and voila! It was a Firefly Squid!
- I swam closer and closer, and I pressed “A” to catch it. It took me a few tries, but I got it!
Some Other Stuff I Learned
I also found out that these little guys are actually predators! They hunt down small fish and other squids. Pretty cool, right? And get this – they only live for about a year, and the females swim back to shore to lay their eggs before they die. Nature is wild!
Anyway, that’s how I caught a Firefly Squid in Animal Crossing. It was a fun little adventure, and I’m excited to see what other sea creatures I can find.
