Hey everyone, so I’ve been grinding away at this “Mountains of Power” event in Pokémon GO, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey. I started out pretty clueless, just catching ‘mons as usual. Then I saw this Timed Research pop up, and I thought, “Why not?”
First thing I did was check out what tasks I needed to complete. It was a mix of stuff, like catching certain types of Pokémon, you know, the usual grind. I also had to walk my buddy Pokémon, which was cool because I needed the exercise anyway. I even had to win some Gym Battles, which was a bit of a struggle since my local gyms are pretty competitive.

I started by focusing on the catching tasks. I roamed around my neighborhood, hitting up all the usual spots. It took a while, but I eventually snagged all the required Pokémon. Then I switched my buddy to one I needed to evolve, and we started racking up those kilometers.
The Gym Battles were the toughest part. I spent a good chunk of time battling, and honestly, I lost more than I won at first. But I learned some strategies, powered up my best Pokémon, and eventually started winning more consistently.
- Catching: This was pretty straightforward. I just had to catch specific types of Pokémon.
- Walking: I walked my buddy Pokémon a ton. It was tiring, but I got some good exercise out of it.
- Gym Battles: This was the hardest part. I had to really strategize and power up my Pokémon to win.
After completing each task, I unlocked a reward. The harder the task, the better the reward, which was a nice incentive. I got some cool items and even encountered some rare Pokémon, which was a nice bonus. The Research Breakthroughs this season have been a bit underwhelming, though. I keep getting Alolan Raichu, Pancham, Furfrou, Hisuian Avalugg, Jangmo-o, and Frigibax, which are fine, but nothing too exciting. I was hoping for some legendaries, but no luck so far. They say you can do a raid or use a super rocket radar for those, but I haven’t tried that yet.
My Final Thoughts
Overall, the “Mountains of Power” Timed Research was a fun challenge. It pushed me to play more actively and explore different aspects of the game. I managed to complete all the tasks and got some decent rewards. It wasn’t easy, but it was definitely worth the effort. And hey, I got some exercise and fresh air in the process, so that’s always a plus!
