Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another one of my little experiments. So, today I was messing around with Typhlosion in Pokemon Go. I’ve been trying to figure out the best moveset for this guy, and let me tell you, it’s been a bit of a journey.
First off, I caught a bunch of Cyndaquil during the recent Community Day event. After evolving a few of them into Typhlosion, I started playing around with different move combinations. I noticed that most of Typhlosion’s moves are fire-typed, which, you know, makes sense since it’s a fire Pokemon. But there are so many fire moves to choose from!

- Incinerate
- Blast Burn
- Fire Blast
- Overheat
I spent a good chunk of my day battling in gyms and raids, trying out various combinations. After a while, I found that Incinerate and Blast Burn seemed to be a pretty killer combo. These two moves together just wrecked other Pokemon, dealing out some serious damage. It felt like the best in terms of raw power.
I also experimented a bit with some of the other charge attacks, like Solar Beam and Thunder Punch. While they did offer some variety in terms of type coverage, they just didn’t seem to pack the same punch as the Incinerate and Blast Burn combo. I mean, Solar Beam takes forever to charge up, and by the time it’s ready, my Typhlosion had already taken a beating.
Other Movesets
Now, I did some digging online, just to see what other folks were saying. Some people suggested using Sunny Day with Solarbeam, I guess for a bit of a strategy. I tried it out, but honestly, it felt a bit too slow for my play style. There were others talking about Flamethrower and Focus Blast, even Earthquake with Shadow Claw. Sounds interesting, but I haven’t gotten around to trying these yet.
One thing I did notice during my research was that a perfect Typhlosion (that’s a hundo, for those not in the know) from a raid has a CP of 1651, and 2064 when it’s weather boosted. Pretty cool, right?
So, after all this testing and battling, I’m sticking with Incinerate and Blast Burn for my Typhlosion. It just feels like the most powerful combination to me. But hey, that’s just my experience. If you’ve got a Typhlosion and you’ve found a different moveset that works for you, that’s awesome! Pokemon Go is all about experimenting and finding what works best for you.
Alright, that’s it for my Typhlosion adventure. Until next time, keep on catching!
