Alright, so I’ve been messing around with Madden for a while now, and I gotta say, figuring out the best offensive playbook has been a real trip. I started out just picking teams I liked, didn’t really pay much attention to the playbook itself.
But then, I started getting smoked online. It was rough. So, I figured I needed to step up my game, and that meant actually looking at these playbooks.

First, I tried a bunch of different ones. I dove into the Colts playbook because it is said to be strong in Gun Bunch Offset. It was cool, and I did have some wins there. I felt like I was onto something.
And I also experimented with Tampa’s playbook for a bit. People online were saying it’s great for passing, and you know, it kinda was. I started feeling like a real quarterback, slinging the ball all over the field. They have this great balance of under center and Shotgun, which I really dug. I was moving the chains, scoring some points. It felt good.
- Tried out the Colts’ playbook.
- Experimented with Tampa’s playbook.
- Felt like I was onto something with both.
I really spent some time with the Steelers’ playbook.
I remember one game, I was using the Steelers’ playbook, and I kept running this one play from the Gun Bunch set. It was some kind of verts play, where everyone just runs deep. Man, I threw so many bombs that game. It was awesome! I even started messing with hot routes, sending my running back on a wheel route. It was like I had unlocked some secret weapon.
- Kept running a verts play from Gun Bunch.
- Threw a bunch of deep bombs.
- Started using hot routes, especially the wheel route for the running back.
After all that trial and error, I’ve come to the conclusion that there’s no single “best” playbook. It really depends on your style. But for me, I’ve been having the most success with the Steelers’ and Tampa’s playbook. That verts play is just too good. I like to run some Bunch TE formation to keep them guessing.
- No single “best” playbook, it depends on your style.
- Steelers and Tampa have been great for me.
My Suggestion
So, if you’re struggling to find a good offensive playbook in Madden, I’d say give the Steelers and Tampa a shot. Try out that verts play, and don’t be afraid to experiment with hot routes. You might just surprise yourself.
But hey, that’s just my experience. What works for me might not work for you. The important thing is to keep practicing, keep experimenting, and most importantly, have fun! After all that, I finally started winning more games. It was a grind, but it was worth it.
