Today, I want to talk about something that got me really excited recently – figuring out the value of my old Radiant Charizard Pokemon card. You know, those shiny, holographic cards we all loved as kids? Well, I stumbled upon mine in a dusty box in the attic and thought, “Hey, I wonder if this thing is worth anything now?”
So, I started my little investigation. First, I needed to identify exactly which Radiant Charizard I had. It turns out there are a few different versions. Mine has this little symbol in the bottom left corner, a black star, which apparently means it’s considered a rare one. There are also others. The easiest way to find out is to look at the bottom left corner of the card. Black circles mean common, black diamonds mean uncommon, and black stars mean rare. But I also noticed mine was from the 2022 Pokemon Go set. There’s a number, 011/078, on it, which I guess is like its ID in that particular collection.

Next, I had to assess its condition. I remember I took pretty good care of my cards, but it’s been years! I carefully examined it for any creases, scratches, or worn edges. Luckily, it was still in pretty good shape – no major damage, just a bit of that nostalgic wear and tear. I would say it’s in “good” condition, not mint, but definitely not bad for an old card.
Now, the fun part – finding out the actual value! I started by looking it up on the internet, and I found out that the most expensive one is the 2022 Pokemon Go #011/078 Radiant Charizard BGS 10 by Pokemon Go from 2022, and the price was around $80. I’m no expert but it looked like mine could be one of them. I also found out that there are other sets as well. There’s the 2022 Japanese Sword & Shield: VSTAR Universe and one from the 1999 Base Set.
- Checked the Set: Looked up recent sales of the 2022 Pokemon Go Radiant Charizard.
- Condition Matters: Realized that even tiny flaws can affect the price.
- Looked it up: Looked up the internet to see the price ranges and the different versions of the card.
I saw a few different prices, it looked like my card, in its current condition, could be worth around 80 bucks! Not bad for something I just found lying around. There was also something about grading, where professionals assess the card’s condition and give it an official rating, which can increase its value. I saw a card like mine that was graded and sold for a lot more, so that’s something I might consider doing in the future.
The Takeaway
This whole experience taught me a couple of things. First, it’s always a good idea to check the value of your old collectibles – you never know what treasures you might have! And second, the condition of a collectible is super important. If you have old cards or anything similar, taking good care of them can really pay off in the long run. And I plan to keep looking up more information about it online and maybe get it graded. Who knew this old card could be so interesting?
