So, I wanted to talk about this game I’ve been playing, “Road Rash”. It’s a motorcycle racing game, but with a twist – you can fight other racers while you’re speeding down the road.
I got into it a few weeks ago. Started playing the first one which is a classic, the Sega Mega Drive version. It was fun, pretty basic, just racing and punching other dudes off their bikes. But then I moved on to Road Rash 3. Man, that game is something else.

I spent hours just trying to get through the first few levels. The races get harder, and the other racers are way more aggressive. They’re not just trying to win, they’re actively trying to knock you off your bike. I learned quickly that you gotta be just as aggressive, if not more.
- Figured out the controls. Seems obvious, but getting a good feel for the bike, the acceleration, the braking, it all matters.
- Started practicing my attacks. There’s punching, kicking, and you can even use weapons like clubs and chains. Timing is key. I’d try to time my attacks for when another racer was trying to pass me.
- Paid attention to the tracks. There are shortcuts, obstacles, and even cops to deal with. I memorized where the tough spots were so I could be ready.
- Upgraded my bike whenever I could. More speed, better handling, it all makes a difference. I saved up my winnings to get the best bike I could afford.
Here’s what I did:
It was a grind, no doubt. I crashed a lot, got busted by the cops a few times, and lost more races than I care to admit. But I kept at it. Slowly but surely, I started winning. Getting that first-place finish, after all that effort, it’s a great feeling.
I’m still playing it now. There are still levels I haven’t beaten, bikes I haven’t unlocked. But I’m enjoying the challenge. It’s a fun game, and it’s definitely got that nostalgic feel to it. Plus, who doesn’t love a good old-fashioned brawl on wheels?
It’s funny, some people say these old games are “retro” or “dated.” I don’t see it that way. To me, Road Rash 3 is just as fun today as it was back then. Maybe even more so, because now I’m old enough to really appreciate the gameplay.
So yeah, that’s my “Road Rash” story. If you’re into racing games, or just want to try something a little different, give it a shot. Just be prepared to get your butt kicked a few times before you get the hang of it!
