Hey everyone, today I want to talk about how I finally got my hands on the Great Statue in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It was quite a journey, so grab a snack and let’s dive in!
The Hunt Begins
So, I started playing ACNH a while back, and I’ve been obsessed with collecting all the art for my museum. The Great Statue was one of the pieces I really wanted, but it’s not easy to come by. I knew I had to find Redd, that sly fox who sells both real and fake art.

First, I made sure to check my island regularly for Redd’s boat, the “Treasure Trawler.” I heard he shows up randomly, so I was always on the lookout. I also talked to my villagers every day because sometimes they’ll mention if Redd is visiting someone else’s island. No luck for weeks!
Time Traveling?
Then, I remembered reading something about time traveling. Some players jump to April 23, 2020, the day the update with the Great Statue was released. I was a bit hesitant about time traveling, but I decided to give it a try. I mean, it’s just a game, right?
I saved my game, closed it, and changed the date on my Switch to April 23, 2020. When I opened the game, I ran around my island, and guess what? Redd’s boat was there! I was so stoked, I was actually going to do this!
Inside the Trawler
I hopped onto the boat and saw four pieces of art, including the Great Statue. Now, the tricky part was figuring out if it was real or fake. I pulled up a guide online that explained the differences.
- Fake Statue: The fake statue has a downward-facing palm.
- Real Statue: The real statue has an upward-facing palm.
I took a close look, and thankfully, the palm was facing upward! I bought it for 4,980 bells, which is a standard price for Redd’s art.
Donating to the Museum
The next day, the statue arrived in the mail. I rushed to the museum and donated it to Blathers. He confirmed it was the real deal, and I felt a huge sense of accomplishment! It looked amazing in the museum, and I was so happy to have it in my collection.
Back to the Present
After that, I changed the date back to the current day. I know some people are against time traveling, but it worked for me in this case. It was a fun little adventure, and now I have a beautiful Great Statue in my museum.
So, that’s my story of how I got the Great Statue in ACNH. It took some patience and a bit of time-traveling magic, but it was totally worth it. If you’re also hunting for this statue, don’t give up! Keep checking for Redd, and maybe try the time-traveling trick if you’re up for it. Happy collecting, everyone!
