Oh, honey, let me tell you about this Mortal Kombat thing. It’s all the rage now, I hear. They call it Mortal Kombat 1, this new one.
Now, I ain’t one for these newfangled things, but even I heard about the Mortal Kombat countdown. It’s like when we wait for the crops to be ready. You gotta wait, wait, wait, and then bam! It’s harvest time.

This Mortal Kombat 1, it came out on September 19th, 2023. Yep, that’s what they said. And it was at 9 in the morning, Pacific time. Don’t ask me what that means, just know it’s morning time somewhere.

I heard some folks got to play it early, like a little sneak peek. That was back in August, the 18th I believe, at 8 in the morning. They call it a “beta.” Like when you test a new recipe before the big dinner. You gotta see if it’s any good.

This beta thing, it was like a little countdown of its own. You could only get it if you ordered it early. Like reserving your spot at the county fair.

They say this Mortal Kombat 1 is a “reboot.” I reckon that’s like when you till the land and plant new seeds. Starting all over fresh. And it’s also a “sequel,” like when the story keeps going, chapter after chapter. It follows something called Mortal Kombat 11. That one had a story too. Something about timelines and a fella named Liu Kang.
Mortal Kombat – What’s it all about?
They got all these fancy names for it. Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox. I don’t know what those are, but they sound important. Like different kinds of tractors, maybe.
This Liu Kang fella, he made a new timeline, they say. Like drawing a new map of the farm. Everything’s changed. And that was in something called “Aftermath expansion.”
Now they even got more stuff coming. Something about a Khaos Reigns expansion. Don’t know what that is. Sounds messy. And a Kombat Pack 2 with two fellas called Sektor and Cyrax. That’s supposed to be out September 24th.

All About Mortal Kombat 1
So you see, this Mortal Kombat countdown, it’s a big deal. Like waiting for the rain to come after a long drought. Everyone’s excited and waiting to see what happens next.
I heard it’s a fighting game. Lots of punching and kicking. Not my cup of tea, but the young folks love it. Reminds me of when the boys used to wrestle in the yard, all rough and tumble.
It’s like them old stories my grandma used to tell, about heroes and villains, all fighting it out. Guess some things never change.
But this Mortal Kombat, it’s all fancy now, with the graphics and the whatnot. Back in my day, we just had sticks and stones. But I reckon it’s all the same in the end. Good versus evil, that’s what it boils down to.
This Mortal Kombat 1, it’s got people talking, that’s for sure. Like when a new family moves to town, everyone wants to know their business.
