Hey, you young’uns, gather ’round! Let me tell you about this “Age of Empires 4” thing. They call it “Age of Empires 4 crossplay,” and it’s somethin’ else. Now, I ain’t no tech whiz, but I heard them talkin’ ’bout it down at the general store.
So, this “crossplay,” what it means, you see, is that folks can play this game together, even if they got different… whatchamacallits… machines. Some got them Xbox thingamajigs, some got them computer doohickeys. Back in my day, we just had checkers, but these young folks, they got all these fancy gadgets.
This “Age of Empires 4,” it’s a game, kinda like buildin’ a town, I reckon. You gotta gather stuff, build houses, make little soldier fellers. I seen my grandson playin’ it. He’s always clickin’ away on that mouse thing. Keeps him outta trouble, I suppose. But now, with this crossplay, he can play with his buddies, even if they ain’t got the same machine.
They say it don’t matter if you got a “Xbox Series X” or an “Xbox One” or one of them “Windows PC” things. You can all play together. My grandson Jimmy, he’s got an Xbox, and his friend, little Timmy down the street, he’s got a computer. Now they can play this “Age of Empires 4” together, all thanks to that crossplay.

Now I heard some folks sayin’ that you can’t play with some type of people at this time, but maybe that will change. These game makers, they like to change things up all the time. I remember when we first got a television. Black and white, it was. Now they got all these colors and whatnot. Things sure do change fast.
I don’t know if that Playstation thing can play or not. Don’t have one of those. Too many buttons for this old gal. I heard about a Nintendo Switch, but I think it is not related to this “Age of Empires 4”.
But this Age of Empires 4 crossplay, that sounds like a good thing. Keeps the young’uns connected, you know? Back in my day, we had to walk uphill both ways in the snow just to see our friends. Now they just click a button, and bam! They’re playin’ together.
If you got this “Age of Empires 4” on the “Microsoft Store” or on “Xbox” or even on that “Steam” thing. All the same to them, you can play. You just gotta make one of them… “multiplayer lobby” things. Sounds complicated, but I’m sure the young’uns know what they’re doin’.
They say lots of games got this crossplay now. So, people on different machines can play. That’s nice, I reckon. More folks to play with. My grandson, he’s always sayin’ he needs more people to play with. Well, now he’s got ’em, thanks to this crossplay thingamajig.
This “Age of Empires 4” came out on them computers first, back in 2021, I think they said. Then, later on, they put it on them Xboxes. Now they got this crossplay, so everybody can play together. It’s a good thing, keepin’ the kids entertained and outta my hair, you see. They say this update is just a “preview,” whatever that means. But it sounds like they’re gonna let everyone play together for real soon.
There are lots of these games where you can play on Xbox and PC together now. It is hard to pick which one to play. But if you got friends on other machines, it is good that you can play with them. It is good to play with more people.
So, if you’re into that “Age of Empires 4” and that crossplay stuff, well, then, good for you. It sounds like a hoot. Just don’t forget to come up for air every now and then. And don’t be talkin’ to strangers online, you hear? There’s some strange folks out there. You stay safe now, you hear?
