Well, let me tell you somethin’ about this here Age of Empires 4 thing. I heard folks talkin’ ’bout it down at the general store. Seems like it’s one of them computer games, like them shootin’ games my grandson plays. But this one, they say it’s about buildin’ and fightin’ with, like, old-timey soldiers and such. Sounds kinda neat, I reckon.
Now, the big hootenanny is this “crossplay” they keep goin’ on about. What it means, far as I can gather, is that you can play this here Age of Empires 4 game with other folks, no matter what kinda contraption they’re usin’. Some people got them Xbox things, some use them regular computers, like that old clunker my daughter has. It’s all the same, they say. You can all play together. No matter whether you got it from that Microsoft Store, or Xbox or that Steam thingamajig, it don’t matter. Like everyone is playing in the same big old field, even if they ain’t sittin’ next to each other.

This is important for Age of Empires 4 crossplay Xbox and PC, they say. See, that Xbox is one of them fancy game boxes, and a PC is just a regular computer. And before, if you had an Xbox and your buddy had a PC, you couldn’t play together. It was like tryin’ to get a mule and a horse to pull the same plow. Just didn’t work. But now, with this crossplay, they can play together just fine.
They say you gotta make somethin’ called a “multiplayer lobby.” Sounds fancy, but I reckon it’s just like a waitin’ room, you know? Like when you go to the doctor’s office and gotta wait your turn. You all sit there in the lobby, waitin’ for your name to be called. This game lobby is kinda like that, but for playin’ games. It will show up in a big old list for everyone to see, they say.
- You can play Age of Empires 4 with your friends.
- It doesn’t matter if they have an Xbox or a PC.
- You just gotta make a multiplayer lobby.
- Then everyone can play together.
- It’s like a big party, but on the computer.
And get this, some other games, they got this crossplay thing, too. It ain’t just for Age of Empires 4. They say you can play games on your computer with folks who got them Nintendo things, or PlayStations, whatever those are. That just sounds like a headache to me, but the young’uns seem to like it. My grandson, he’s always talkin’ about playin’ with his friends online. It is good news for them Age fans I guess.
Now, I heard some folks sayin’ that Xbox can’t survive without PC, but PC can survive without them. Whatever that means. Sounds like a bunch of hogwash to me. But they say it’s 99.99% sure that this crossplay thing is comin’ to Age of Empires 4, so that’s somethin’, I reckon. And I think that Xbox players expect somethin’ special. The game will have this crossplay between platforms, but it’s optional.
I reckon it’s all about keepin’ up with the times. Back in my day, we played games with sticks and rocks. We didn’t need no fancy computers or internet. But these young’uns, they like their technology. And if this crossplay thing makes ’em happy, then I guess it’s alright. This here Age of Empires 4, you can get it with somethin’ called Xbox Game Pass for PC and Ultimate. They say it is available for purchase on the Microsoft Store. That is for Windows PC and also Steam.
I still don’t rightly understand what all this is about, but it sure does sound like a big deal. If you’re into them computer games, you might wanna check it out. Just don’t ask me to explain it to you again, ’cause my head’s already spinnin’. It is best to figure out if the game has this crossplay. Fortunately, it does, they say.
This whole Age of Empires 4 crossplay thing is somethin’ else. I guess it don’t matter if you’re playin’ on a fancy Xbox or a regular old PC. You can still play with your friends. That’s somethin’, ain’t it? It’s like the whole world’s connected now, even if you’re just playin’ a silly game.
One more thing they were talkin’ about is Age of Empires 4 Ultrawide Support. Now, I don’t know what that is, but it sounds wide. Maybe it’s for folks with big, wide computer screens. Like them big, flat TVs they got nowadays. My old TV’s got a big hump on the back, but these new ones are flat as a pancake. Maybe it’s like that, but for computers.
Anyway, that’s all I got to say about this Age of Empires 4 and this crossplay business. It’s all a bit much for me, but maybe you young’uns will understand it better. I’m gonna go have a nice cup of tea and sit on the porch. You kids have fun with your computer games.
