Well, let me tell you, this here Age of Empires 4 thing, it’s a real head-scratcher. I hear all these young folks talkin’ ’bout playin’ it together, some on their fancy computers, some on that Xbox thingamajig. They call it “crossplay,” like some kinda fancy word for playin’ together. Sounds like a bunch of hooey to me, but I reckon I can figure it out, I gotta keep up with the times I guess.
So, this here Age of Empires 4 crossplay, it’s like this. You got your folks on their computers, right? They’s clickin’ away with their mouses and keyboards, buildin’ their little towns and whatnot. Then you got your Xbox folks, with their controllers and whatnot. They’s doin’ the same thing, just on the TV screen. This here crossplay thing lets ’em all play in the same game, even though they’s usin’ different gadgets.
Now, I heard you gotta invite your friends. Ain’t nothin’ like the old days when you just hollered out the window. You gotta send ’em some kinda special message through the game, I reckon. Sounds complicated, but I guess that’s how they do it these days. And you need some kinda special account, I think they call it a “gamertag” or somethin’ like that. Just another thing to remember, as if I don’t have enough to keep track of already. And you need to be friend with them first.
- First, you gotta have the game. On your computer or your Xbox, don’t matter.
- Then, you gotta have some friends. And they gotta have the game too.
- You all need to be friend with each other on the xbox thing.
- Then, you gotta figure out how to invite ’em. I reckon there’s a button somewhere.
- Then you all play together, buildin’ your little towns and fightin’ each other.
I heard some folks sayin’ they had trouble with it. One fella’s got the game on his computer, through somethin’ called “Game Pass.” Sounds like a pass to a game to me. And his brother, he’s got it on somethin’ called “Steam.” Another one of them fancy computer words. They couldn’t figure out how to play together for the life of ’em. Kept sayin’ somethin’ about linkin’ accounts. Lord knows what that means. Just sounds like a whole lot of trouble to me. You know, Xbox and PC, they should just get together in the same room and play. It is the only right way to play games.
And don’t even get me started on these other games. They got all sorts of ’em now. PlayStation, Nintendo… it’s a whole mess. But I hear some of ’em got this crossplay thing too. So you can play with folks on all sorts of different things. It’s a crazy world we live in, I tell ya. Why people just don’t play the same game, it is so hard to understand!
But this Age of Empires 4, I reckon it’s a popular one. Lots of folks playin’ it. And if you wanna play with your friends, and they’s on different things, well, then you gotta figure out this crossplay thing. It ain’t easy, but nothin’ worth doin’ ever is, I suppose. And if you get stuck, well, there’s probably some young whippersnapper out there who can help you out. They’s always messin’ around with these computers and whatnot. They know the trick I guess.
I remember the days, we just play outside. We don’t need all these things. But I guess times change, ain’t that the truth? I still don’t really understand this whole crossplay Xbox and PC thing. All this technology, it’s beyond me. But if it makes the young folks happy, I reckon that’s all that matters. But still, this is not somethin’ you can pick up easy. You gotta be young, to understand this thing, or have someone to show you how to do it. It is hard to keep up with these young people.
So, there you have it. That’s all I know about this Age of Empires 4 crossplay business. It’s a lot of rigmarole, if you ask me. But if you’re determined to play with your friends, and they’re on different doohickeys, well, then I reckon you gotta give it a try. Just be prepared for a headache or two. And if you get real stuck, well, maybe I’ll ask my grandson. He’s always foolin’ around with that computer of his. He’ll probably know what to do.
One more thing, you gotta have internet. That’s another problem. You know, those wifi thing. Sometimes it is good, sometimes it is not. You can not play if your internet is bad. So you need to make sure you have a good connection first. It is hard to keep up with all of these. I remember the day we just play outside.
