Well, well, well, look at this here game, MLB The Show 24. I hear all the young folks talkin’ ’bout it. They say it’s a real good one. I don’t know much about these fancy video games, but I hear you can do all sorts of things, like playin’ baseball, but not the real kind. You use buttons and sticks and all that. One thing I heard ’bout is this “request trade” thing. Sounds like some kinda business deal to me.
Now, from what I gather, this MLB The Show 24 request trade is when you’re playin’ as a baseball fella, and you ain’t happy with the team you’re on. You wanna go somewhere else. Like when my cousin Earl wasn’t happy pickin’ cotton down south, so he went up north to work in a factory. Same kinda thing, I reckon. But this game ain’t like the old ones, they done changed it. It used to be easier, like askin’ for seconds at supper. Now it’s more complicated. Like tryin’ to thread a needle with these old eyes.

They say you gotta be in this thing called “Road to the Show”. Sounds like a long walk to me. If I had to walk all the way to the show, I’d be too tired to enjoy it! Anyways, in this Road to the Show, you gotta play good. Hit that ball good, throw it good. Be good at that baseball stuff, just like in real life.
And you gotta keep your numbers up. They got these numbers, up to 50, like a score. Higher the better, I guess. Like when you’re sellin’ eggs, you want a good price for ’em. More money, more better. Same thing here, I suppose. More numbers, more better.
- Hit the ball real good.
- Throw the ball where it needs to go.
- Don’t just swing at everything, gotta be smart.
They say on your days off, you gotta practice. Go to the “Batting Cage” or the “Bullpen”. Sounds like where we keep our animals, but I guess it’s different in this game. You gotta keep gettin’ better, even when you ain’t playin’ a real game. Just like how I gotta keep tendin’ to my garden, even when it ain’t harvest time.
Now, back in my day, when we played baseball, we just played. Didn’t have all these fancy menus and options. But in this here MLB The Show 24, they got a menu, like at the diner. You gotta go to the “My Player” thing, then “Interactions.” Sounds like a whole lotta steps just to say you ain’t happy.
Then you choose this “Request Trade” thing. But they tell me it ain’t guaranteed. Like when you plant seeds, ain’t no guarantee they’ll all sprout. Gotta do your best and hope for the best, I suppose. Just like life.
And listen here, playin’ this game, hitting is important. It’s like plantin’ seeds, gotta do it right if you want somethin’ to grow. Gotta hit that ball far. They say it’s more important than throwin’ the ball, which they call “pitching.” I don’t know about that, seems to me both are pretty important. Like how you need both sunshine and rain for a good crop.
Some folks, they try to cheat at this game, like puttin’ water in your milk to make it go further. Ain’t right, I say. But they do it. They try to do these little things, “moments” they call ’em, to get ahead. If you get one “hit” or one “HR” on the first try, that’s good, I hear. Better than nothin’, like findin’ a dollar in your old jeans. They say if you get it on the first try, then you should try a few more of these “1 AB” things. I don’t rightly know what that means, but it sounds like somethin’ to do with one try. Like throwin’ a horseshoe and hopin’ it lands close to the stake.
This game, it’s a whole different world. They got these things called “Stubs,” which is like money in the game. The more you have, the better you can do. Just like in real life, I suppose. Folks who been playin’ a long time, they got a lot of these Stubs. Like how old Mr. Johnson down the road has a lot of money ’cause he’s been workin’ hard all his life.
This MLB The Show 24, it’s a complicated thing. Lots of things to learn. Like learnin’ to drive a tractor for the first time. Gotta get used to all the levers and buttons. But I hear it’s fun, once you get the hang of it. Just gotta be patient, like waitin’ for your tomatoes to ripen.
So, if you’re playin’ this game, and you wanna switch teams, this request trade thing, it ain’t easy. But it can be done. Just gotta keep playin’, keep gettin’ better, and hope for the best. And remember, even if you ain’t happy with your team, you still gotta play hard. Just like how I gotta keep tendin’ to my garden, even when the weather ain’t good. That’s just life, I reckon.

This game has its own “unique challenges,” I hear folks say. Sounds like a fancy way of sayin’ it’s hard sometimes. Just like life, you got good days and bad days. But you gotta keep goin’, keep playin’, keep livin’. And that’s all I know about this MLB The Show 24 request trade business.
