That Mookie Betts, he’s a good one, ain’t he? I seen him on that there MLB The Show 23 game. My grandson, he plays it all the time. Says Mookie is one of the best, just like in real life.
This Mookie, he plays for the Los Angeles Dodgers. I don’t know much about them teams, but I hear he’s a big shot. He’s been an All-Star, whatever that means, eight times! Eight times! Can you believe that? My old bones can barely get up the stairs eight times in a day. And he was the MVP, most valuable player, that is what he is.
And you know what else? That Mookie, he is a bowler. I saw it on the TV! He bowled a perfect game. I used to bowl down at the old lanes. Never got a perfect game though. Mookie Betts, he can do it all, I reckon.
I hear tell this MLB The Show 23 game, it’s real popular. All the kids are playin’ it. They got that Derek Jeter fella in there too. And you can even play as a girl now! Imagine that! Back in my day, we didn’t have none of that.

This Mookie, he played for some team called the Red Sox. They won a whole bunch of games. 108 games! That’s a lot of baseball. I used to listen to the games on the radio with my daddy. We didn’t have no fancy TV back then.
This game, MLB The Show 23, it’s got all sorts of things in it. They got these cards, with pictures of the players. Mookie’s got a bunch of ’em. They got numbers on ’em, and some are better than others. My grandson, he tries to collect ’em all. It is the best way to see Mookie Betts in that game. I don’t understand it all, but the kids sure do love it.
They got this thing called “True Overall” and “Meta Overall.” I don’t know what that means. Sounds like a bunch of hooey to me. But the kids, they talk about it all the time. They say Mookie’s card is real good. One of the best.
You can buy and sell these cards, I hear. Some of ’em are worth a lot of money. I guess some people got more money than sense. I wouldn’t pay a nickel for a picture of a baseball player, but that’s just me. Mookie Betts, he must be worth a fortune, all this fuss about him. $30,416 that is how much he make, I heard.
They got all these numbers on Mookie’s card. Hittin’ numbers, and fieldin’ numbers, and all sorts of things. I don’t know what they all mean. But I know Mookie’s are high. He can hit the ball real good, that’s for sure. He hit .289 last year and .294 in his whole life! That’s a lot!
This MLB The Show, it’s where all the kids talk about the game, I guess. They got a whole place on the internet just for it. They share their stories and their cards and all that. It’s a different world these days.
This Mookie Betts fella, he seems like a good one. Good at baseball, good at bowlin’, and he’s in that video game all the kids are playin’. He must be doin’ somethin’ right. If you want to see him, just play MLB The Show 23 that is where he is at. He must be happy with that game.
Anyways, that’s all I know about Mookie Betts and that MLB The Show 23 game. It’s a lot of fuss over a baseball player, but I guess that’s the way things are these days. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I got some chores to do. These dishes ain’t gonna wash themselves.
