Okay, lemme tell ya somethin’ about this here Pokemon Go game. My grandkids, they’re always on about it. Pokey-man this, Pokey-man that. Got me all confused, it does. But I try to keep up, you know? For them. Now they’re askin’ me about this Bellossom or Vileplume. Which one’s better, grandma? They ask. Well, I did some lookin’, and here’s what this old lady found out.
First off, these are both them plant-type Pokey-mans. They come from that Gloom, a fella that looks like he’s always sad. Reminds me of old man Henderson down the way, always grumblin’. This Gloom, he can turn into either one of ’em, Bellossom or Vileplume. You gotta choose, see?

Now, this Vileplume, he’s got some kinda flower on his head, looks like one of them giant sunflowers, ‘cept it’s red. And he’s part poison type, too. Means he’s good against some critters, but bad against others. More weaknesses, you see. Like, he won’t do so good against them psychic types. He’s got some strong attacks, though. I reckon he’s more for fightin’.
- Vileplume, he’s a fighter.
- Got that big ol’ flower.
- He’s part poison, which ain’t always good.
Then there’s Bellossom. She’s a little dancin’ thing, with flowers on her head, too, but she looks like she’s wearin’ a hula skirt. She’s just a grass type, nothin’ else. Seems to me she ain’t as tough, but maybe harder to hurt. She can take a hit, that Bellossom. My grandson says she can learn somethin’ called “Solarbeam”, sounds powerful. Maybe she’s like them tough weeds you can’t never get rid of in the garden. They just keep comin’ back!
- Bellossom, she’s a dancer.
- Just grass type, plain and simple.
- She can take a beatin’.
- Learns that “Solarbeam”.
So, which one’s better in Pokemon Go, you ask? Well, it’s like askin’ if you want a tough old rooster or a hen that just won’t quit layin’ eggs. They’re different, is all. This Vileplume, he’s your fighter. He’ll hit hard, but he might get knocked down easy, too. Like that rooster, all strut and crow, but one good kick and he’s done. Vileplume in Pokemon Go got some higher stats, they say.
Bellossom, she’s your tough one. She might not hit as hard, but she’ll stay in the fight longer. Like that hen, just keeps on cluckin’ and layin’ eggs, no matter what. She got less vulnerabilities, I hear. That means she ain’t weak to as many things in Pokemon Go.
My grandkids, they want to know all the numbers, all them stats. Which one has the highest CP, which one’s got the best moves. That’s all fine and dandy, but sometimes you just gotta go with your gut. You want somethin’ that can dish it out? Go Vileplume. You want somethin’ that can take it? Go Bellossom.
Me? I kinda like that Bellossom. She reminds me of myself, I reckon. Not the flashiest, maybe not the strongest, but I’m still here, ain’t I? Still dancin’, in my own way. And I can take a punch or two, let me tell ya. Just like that little dancin’ Pokey-man.
I tell you, these young’uns and their Pokemon Go. It’s a whole different world. But it’s kinda fun, learnin’ about all these critters. Even if it makes my head spin sometimes. They say you should wait till level 39 to evolve your Gloom. That’s when it learns some move called “Toxic.” Sounds nasty. I don’t know nothin’ about that, but it’s what the young’uns say. They’re always talkin’ about “EVs” and “IVs” and all sorts of things. I just nod my head and smile.
One thing I know for sure, you gotta catch ’em all. Or somethin’ like that. That’s what they say, anyway. And you gotta have fun. That’s the most important thing. Even if you’re just an old lady tryin’ to figure out this crazy Pokemon Go game. So, Bellossom or Vileplume? You choose. Just have fun doin’ it.
