Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about them Elder Scrolls Online zones, ya know, the places ya go in that there game. It ain’t as simple as goin’ from one farm to the next, no sir. There’s a whole bunch of ’em, and it can get real confusin’ if ya don’t know where to start.
Startin’ Out

Now, they used to have these special startin’ zones, like Bleakrock Isle. Folks said it was a good one, lots of things to do, stories to hear, and beasties to whack. Ya could learn yer skills, get stronger, all that good stuff. Khenarthi’s Roost, that was another one for some other folks. But then them game makers, they went and changed things up.
See, now they like to dump ya right into the newest places, like High Isle or Western Skyrim. It’s like takin’ a calf straight from its mama and throwin’ it in with the bulls! Can be a bit much for a greenhorn, ya know? Not much time to learn the ropes, just get thrown in the fire.
Figurin’ Out Where to Go
The thing is, ya can go pretty much anywhere ya want in this game, whenever ya want. That’s what they say, anyhow. Even before ya start the main story, which is a whole other kettle of fish, ya can wander off. Some places, they call ’em DLC zones, are real fancy. Folks say they’re good, worth the coin, but I ain’t made of money, ya hear?
If ya want the whole story, the way it’s supposed to be, there’s an order to things. But it ain’t always clear. It’s like tryin’ to follow a chicken’s tracks in the mud after a rainstorm. Lots of folks askin’ online, “Where do I go next?” “What’s the best way to see it all?” They got forums and whatnot, full of folks chatterin’ away. Some say this, some say that. Makes yer head spin.
- The Main Story: This is the big one, the one they want ya to follow. But ya can get sidetracked easy.
- Zone Quests: Every place has its own stories, its own problems. Ya help folks out, ya get rewarded. Simple as that.
- Dungeons: Dark and scary places, full of bad guys and treasure. Not for the faint of heart, but good for gettin’ strong.
- Skill Points: Ya need these to get better at things. There’s things called “sky shards” ya gotta find, or ya gotta level up yer skills, like magic and such.
Making Sense of it All
They got a whole heap of zones, see? Each one different, with its own look and feel. Some are snowy, some are swampy, some are just plain ol’ forests. It’s like travelin’ all over Tamriel without ever leavin’ yer chair. But it can be overwhelmin’, too much all at once. Especially for someone like me who ain’t used to all this fancy computer stuff.
And they keep addin’ more zones, too. Every now and then, they come out with a new “chapter,” and boom, there’s another place to explore. It’s like they’re buildin’ the world as ya play it. Makes ya wonder when they’ll ever stop. Probably not ‘til the cows come home, I reckon.
They even got this new tutorial thing now, in Blackwood. Supposed to teach ya the ropes, no matter who ya are or where ya start. But I still say it’s better to learn by doin’. Get out there, get yer hands dirty, make some mistakes. That’s how ya really learn, ain’t it?
My Advice?

Don’t worry too much about doin’ things in the “right” order. Just pick a place that looks interestin’ and go explore. Talk to folks, do some quests, kill some monsters. Have fun with it! That’s what games are for, ain’t they? And if ya get lost, well, that’s part of the adventure. Just like findin’ yer way back from the market after too much cider.
And don’t be afraid to ask for help. There’s plenty of folks online who know this game inside and out. They can point ya in the right direction, give ya some tips, and maybe even help ya out if yer stuck. Just be careful who ya listen to. Some folks are just full of hot air, ya know?
So, there ya have it. My two cents on them Elder Scrolls Online zones. It ain’t a fancy explanation, but it’s honest. Now go on, get out there and see the world! Just watch out for them mudcrabs. They’re meaner than they look.
And Remember, This game, it’s like a big ol’ onion. Lots of layers, and sometimes it makes ya cry. But if ya stick with it, ya might just find somethin’ ya like. Now get off my lawn and go play!
