Well, let me tell ya, this whole “can you get traded in MLB The Show 24” thing is a bit of a pickle. Folks are hollerin’ and fussin’ ’cause they can’t just up and ask for a trade like they used to. Used to be, ya could just tell your agent you were fed up, and he’d go wiggle his ears at the team manager or somethin’. But no sir, not this year. Them game folks at SDS, they done took that away, for no good reason I tell ya, no good reason at all.
Now, I ain’t no fancy video game player, mind you. I’m just an old gal who likes to watch the boys swing their bats and throw them balls. But from what I gather, you gotta be a bit sneakier now. It ain’t about askin’ polite anymore; it’s about makin’ yourself so darn valuable they can’t help but wanna trade ya.

First off, ya gotta play good. Real good. Hit them balls outta the park, snag them flyin’ catches, and pitch like yer arm’s on fire. The better ya play, the higher yer “trade value” goes, or so they tell me. It’s like bein’ a prize-winning hog at the county fair; everybody wants ya, see?
- Hit the ball real hard.
- Catch the ball real good.
- Throw the ball real fast.
Then there’s this “team dynamics” thing. I ain’t quite sure what that means, but I reckon it’s about gettin’ along with yer teammates. Don’t go causin’ no trouble, don’t be throwin’ yer bat at the umpire, and for goodness sake, don’t be whinin’ all the time. Be a good teammate, and maybe, just maybe, the team will be more willin’ to ship ya off somewhere else.
Now, some folks are talkin’ about a “trade simulator tool.” Sounds fancy, don’t it? Apparently, you can use this thing to show folks what kinda trade you’re lookin’ for. You take a picture of yer idea, and show it around. It’s like showin’ off yer prize-winning tomato at the farmers market; let folks see what you got and maybe they’ll bite. But I ain’t got no time for such newfangled things. I prefer my tomato sandwiches with a side of lemonade, that is just how it is. I reckon the youngins can have their fun but for me I will have my tomatoes.
And then there’s the rules. Oh, them rules! Seems like there’s always rules, ain’t there? You can only trade players that are under contract, whatever that means. And there’s a certain time of year for tradin’ – starts a couple days after the World Series and ends on July 31st. It’s like sellin’ yer corn at the market; ya gotta do it when the time is right. If you do not get the sale then, you do not get the sale. There is no goin back.
Now, I hear tell there’s somethin’ called the NFL trade deadline, and after that, no tradin’ allowed, not even if you offer them a whole herd of cattle. But that’s football, not baseball. Still, it shows ya that there’s rules everywhere ya go, like how you gotta wear shoes inside the grocery store, I hate that rule. It just doesn’t make sense and I wanna feel the ground on my feet as I stroll through the aisles sometimes. This is America, I should be able to do that!
So, to answer yer question, can you get traded in MLB The Show 24? Well, it ain’t easy, that’s for sure. You can’t just ask for it like you used to. You gotta play yer heart out, be a good teammate, and maybe, just maybe, someone will come along and offer a deal the team can’t refuse. It’s like sellin’ a used car; ya gotta make it look real shiny and hope someone takes a likin’ to it. And even then, it might not happen. That’s just life, I reckon. Sometimes you gotta do things you do not like, but it is what it is.
But don’t you worry, there are ways around everything. You just have to put your mind to it and work real hard and play real hard to get what you want. It’s the American way I tell you, and do not let anyone tell you otherwise. Remember what I said, play good, be good and you should get good. That’s all there is to it, I reckon.
